Intro

Sector and department information

Within ASML, the sector Development and Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification, design, integration, qualification, and sustaining of all ASML products. Taking advantage of customer and manufacturing proximity, the D&E Applications of the ASML Center of Excellence (ACE) is located in Linkou, Taiwan

Position in the Organization

The holder of the position reports to the Manager of ACE D&E in BL Apps

Introduction of the Job

As the D&E manager (DTL leader) in Linkou, you drive end-to-end engineering delivery for a submodule, ensuring predictable, high quality execution within scope, time, and budget constraints. You reinforce D&E standards, foster a healthy and high perform team culture, and manage people and capacity with clarity and accountability.

You make technical “how” decisions, oversee hiring within budget, and allocate internal capacity to optimize delivery. In close partnership with the MDU Leader, you align sequencing, integrate deliverables across teams, and introduce improved ways of working to strengthen execution and advance MDU objectives.

The role involves significant collaboration with other Delivery Teams within the VCP MDU; carries broader competency and sub‑module responsibilities; and requires strategic stakeholder influence across adjacent MDUs, multiple sectors, and external partners.

You will be working in the virtual compute platform (VCP) and ensure the platform can host analytics applications with the uptime expectation of 4 nine’s (99.99%) in the semiconductor factories of our customers (e.g., TSMC, Micron, Samsung, China and many others) 

The platform is currently developed based on Kubernetes. We develop the platform aspects in our team. Scheduling of resources, containerization, fail-over and data collection from scanner and measurement devices inside the fab.

Installations and upgrades are automated with Ansible and Python. Other technologies you may encounter are Spark for data processing, Kafka for notifications and high volume data ingestion. Hadoop and HBASE are used for data storage.

Geographical Workplace

ACE (ASML Taiwan, Linkou). Travel to the customer sites or the development headquarters (HQ) in the Netherlands for on-the-job training may be needed as part of the assignment

Responsibilities

You are accountable for leading the VCP Formosa team and driving end‑to‑end Delivery Team performance, ensuring predictable execution within triple‑constraints, strict adherence to D&E ways of working, and a healthy, high‑performing team environment.

Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of all engineering outputs for the sub-module and drive PGP execution for the sub-module based on a profound understanding of business success criteria.

  • Drive Delivery Team planning to realize the agreed objectives, proactively identifying and mitigating risks and issues incl. potential escalation to sector MDU roles on sector deliverable dependencies.

  • Set boundary conditions for sub-module elements, balancing QLTCS trade-offs across, ensure sub-module elements integrate into a coherent performant and reliable sub-module, and resolve bottlenecks escalated by architects, engineers, planner & integrators and sectors.

  • Day-to-day steering to realize Delivery Team deliverables, including industrialization deliverables.

  • Ensuring that risks, operational dependencies, and blocking items are solved or properly escalated.

  • Provide robust means & methods, tools, and competency development to enable high‑quality execution, including tailoring where needed—subject to Foundation approval—to best support Delivery Team performance.

  • Potential add-on: Serve as the key liaison between a Module Delivery Unit and the Guild, ensuring clear alignment, effective knowledge flow, and consistent application of Guild standards and practices.

People

  • People and performance management of the Delivery Team (max. 10 direct reports and sector indirect reports), including talent development and succession.

  • Guaranteeing team stability, knowledge management, and workforce planning, including escalating resource shortage or surplus.

Educational & Experience

  • A relevant BSc or MSc or PhD in the area of software engineering, computer science, information systems, IT or MIS

  • 5 years of engineering experience, including technical or team lead role, ideally within equivalent industry as: (Chief) Product Owner, Group Lead, Project Lead, Team Lead or Main Delivery Owner

  • Proven delivery track record on complex, multidisciplinary work

  • Planning and delivery leadership with proficiency in setting priorities and driving alignment in a fast-paced, ambiguous and customer-focused environment)

  • Analytical and pragmatic attitude. Accurate, structured and quality focused minded

  • Experience in leadership, project management and people management role

Technical Skills

  • Software lifecycle & requirement engineering

  • Problem analysis and problem solving methods

  • Context Diagram, OOAD, OOP, UML

  • Kubernetes, Ansible, Python and Java

  • Automatic testing and qualification, CI/CD pipeline

  • Linux, networking, TCP/IP, firewall & security, storage, VMs
