Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a consumer hardware environment.
  • Experience in test script development or coding for automated testing.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, computer, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in design analysis, rapid prototyping, and drafting detailed mechanical illustrations using CAD software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX CAD, or MasterCam.
  • Proficiency in test automation utilizing robotics, sensors, linear stages, and motors controlled by PLCs or single-board computers (such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and ESP32). Strong capability in developing user interfaces, processing, and analyzing test data with Python, C++, or C#.
  • Excellent communication skills with professional-level verbal and written fluency in English and Mandarin.

About the job

As a Hardware Reliability Test Engineer based in the Google Taiwan Reliability Lab in New Taipei City, you will partner with Hardware and Reliability Engineering teams to advocate robust, resilient product designs.

In this role, you will design and develop advanced automated test scripts and coding using Python, C++, or C#, while driving laboratory automation by integrating computer vision, robotics, PLCs, and custom test fixtures. You will also design reliability test equipment, leverage mechanical CAD software for prototyping, analyze testing data to build visualization dashboards, and streamline reporting workflows to deliver high-quality, dependable consumer hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced test scripts and code to automate testing, analyze data, and build visualization dashboards.
  • Drive hardware test automation in the reliability lab, integrating computer vision systems, robotics, industrial-standard motion control, and custom test fixtures.
  • Streamline testing and reporting processes by leveraging Python to automate data collection and analytical workflows.
  • Develop tests and test equipment for consumer products, design components to conduct reliability testing, and automate existing standard tests.
