About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

In this role, you will leverage your technical knowledge in data center design and engineering to lead multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. You will lead the collaboration with stakeholders, across various teams and time zones. You will collaborate on plan requirements, mitigate risks, manage project schedules, and ensure clear communication throughout the project life-cycle. You will be explaining the team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs with internal and external engineers.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize the physical layout of data center floors, ensuring efficient use of space and resources, including placement of server racks, network equipment, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and cooling systems.
  • Design cable tray systems to support data and power cabling for server racks and other equipment, and ensure compliance with industry standards for cable management.
  • Calculate power requirements for server racks and other equipment, taking into account redundancy and future growth, and collaborate with electrical engineers to design power distribution systems that meet these requirements.
  • Work with multiple teams across different time zones, build relationships with stakeholders across the organization, and influence decision-making.
  • Lead projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and driving the technical directions of the programs.
Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. See also Google's EEO Policy and EEO is the Law. About us

Google’s mission is to organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Since our founding in 1998, Google has grown by leaps and bounds. From offering search in a single language we now offer dozens of products and services—including various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasks—in scores of languages. And starting from two computer science students in a university dorm room, we now have thousands of employees and offices around the world. A lot has changed since the first Google search engine appeared. But some things haven’t changed: our dedication to our users and our belief in the possibilities of the Internet itself.
