The Venture Squad is a high-autonomy unit at Berry AI building next-generation QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) products from the ground up. We turn raw operational data into actionable business intelligence and act as a growth engine for the company.

We practice an AI-native engineering workflow: not just using AI to write snippets, but to help design, build, and operate entire systems.

• 2026 Q1–Q2: Rapid prototyping and validation with real QSR partners
• From Q3 onward: Scaling, hardening, and operating production-grade systems

We’re looking for engineers who can prototype fast and also lead systems into stable, long-term production.

Role Mission

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer in the Venture Squad, you are a primary builder of the new QSR product’s interface and core logic. You’ll use AI-native workflows to ship quickly while keeping architecture clean, scalable, and user experience smooth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Spec-First Architecture & End-to-End Delivery

• Lead the development lifecycle with a Contract-Driven, spec-first approach.
• Enable AI-assisted tools to generate consistent, maintainable code across the stack.
• Own the full feature lifecycle—from UI flows to backend business logic and data integrity.

2. Product Discovery & Pragmatic AI Usage

• Dive into QSR operational pain points with PMs and stakeholders and turn them into clear problem statements.
• Build fast, functional prototypes to validate ideas early and shape the roadmap.
• Integrate AI pragmatically—using it to accelerate development and power product features only when it delivers tangible user value or operational efficiency.

3. Reliability, Verification & Continuous Improvement

• Take ownership of production-grade reliability for what you ship.
• Design verification mechanisms, monitoring, and edge-case handling for both human-written and AI-assisted components.
• Ensure the system remains stable, secure, and logically sound in real-world QSR environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years building Python web services in containers (Docker; Kubernetes a plus).
• 2+ years operating production systems (on-call, incident response, RCA).
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in daily engineering work.
• Solid CI/CD + testing + observability (e.g., GitHub Actions/CircleCI/Buildkite; pytest/Playwright/Robot; CloudWatch/Grafana).
• Comfortable with AWS fundamentals (S3, Lambda, ECS).
• Experience working in a cross-functional squad.
• Experienced in frontend development.

Bonus points

• 0→1 product experience (turning ambiguity into shipped features).
• Data workflow/pipeline tooling (Dagster / Prefect / n8n).
• BDD experience (behave / Gherkin).
• Spec-driven development (spec-kit / Open Spec → executable tests).
• Used English for day-to-day communication in prior work experience.

This Role Is NOT for You If…

• You need fully detailed specs from PMs before you start. Here, you help clarify and evolve specs through discussion, prototypes, and technical feedback.
• You rely on separate QA/UAT to find bugs. We practice “development as validation,” and you own the quality of your code.
• You insist on being only “backend” or only “frontend.” We work across the stack where the problem is.
• You prefer a static toolchain and process. We constantly experiment, question habits, and adopt new AI-driven methods.
• You need every pixel finalized by a designer. You should be able to build intuitive, functional UIs with AI and design systems, even before perfection.
