Job Description

The Role — Engineer

This is not a "take tickets, ship UI" role. We are looking for an engineer who can carry the PM × Engineer archetype on our Senior AE track:

  • Judge what to build, not just how. Look across the card pool, decide which features unlock revenue fastest, ship them, then own retention.
  • Talk to clients directly. Team scouts, TV producers, league operators — you'll work with them 0–1 layer away to scope and de-risk requirements.
  • Prototype-driven. Claude Code is our core productivity tool. We expect you to use AI assistants natively to compress build → ship cycles.
  • Own end-to-end delivery. Frontend, backend, schema, deploy — you should be comfortable shipping a feature alone if needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, test, and maintain user-facing surfaces for our cloud platform — covering video editing, live streaming tools, and sports game management software.
  • Work directly with clients and operations to translate ambiguous requirements into shippable specs; set your own priorities in coordination with the CTO and COO.
  • Build and optimize systems that handle live video streams, real-time metadata, and AI-driven post-processing.
  • Use TypeScript and React/Redux on the frontend, Node.js and Python on the backend, Postgres + PostgREST for data, plus tools like GitHub, Docker, and AI APIs (Gemini, Claude).
  • Integrate third-party APIs and tools to support live streaming, real-time game statistics, and AI editing capabilities (Gemini, OBS, RTMP/HLS pipelines).
  • Write runbooks and harden recurring incidents — reduce the load on the on-call rotation by fixing root causes.

Requirements

Must-have

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • A track record of owning at least one feature from zero to production alone (frontend + backend + ship + monitor).
  • Proficiency in our current stack: Node.js, TypeScript, React, Redux, Python, PostgreSQL, Ant Design.
  • Working comfort with PostgREST or a similar thin-API-over-Postgres pattern.
  • Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation (see "On-call reality" below — rules are stated up front, not surfaced post-onboarding).
  • Ability to talk directly with clients (sports teams, TV networks) to clarify requirements in English and/or Mandarin.
  • Judgment about commercial urgency — you do not need a PM to tell you what matters most this week.
  • Tolerance for off-hour incidents. Live events happen evenings and weekends; that's the product, not a temporary problem.

Nice-to-have

  • Video streaming experience: RTMP, HLS, mp4 segmentation, ffmpeg, OBS workflows.
  • Cloud experience: GCP (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub) or AWS Lambda.
  • Startup experience — comfort with small teams and role switching.
  • Genuine interest in sports or media.

Bonus

  • You have shipped Gemini or Claude APIs in production.
  • You have worked across live broadcasting, sports analytics, or real-time video pipelines before.

Interview process

  • Location: fully remote (Taiwan-based preferred; we have international contributors).
  • Language: working Mandarin and/or English. You will likely need both at different points.
  • Hiring process: intro call → tech + judgment interview → founder conversation → reference check → offer with full on-call terms attached.
