Job Description

Cake is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated HR Business Partner who can handle everything from hiring and benefits to compliance and employee relations to join us to be our very first HR Business Partner to help Cake expand into more markets globally.

As our first HR Business Partner, you will initially be an individual contributor role with the view that it will grow into a leadership role over time. In this role, you will provide strategic HR partnership to the team leaders/hiring managers and their teams and drive cross-functional leadership across the teams. You will partner with C-suites and team leaders in areas such as organizational design, employee relations, culture, and talent enablement to help Cake's extraordinary growth. 


Responsibilities

  • Establish a partnership with senior leadership as a tenured HR Business Partner and trusted coach that can guide important talent decisions and provide advice and expertise which are tailored for Cake specific needs
  • Drive strategic impact with the business through organizational change and development programs, influencing leaders to plan for and address complex organizational design issues for business success and scale.
  • Cross-collaborate with teams to design and manage programs in line with our company-wide commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Strategic planning with senior leadership and recruiting to develop hiring plans that support our goals and grow the business
  • Use data and insights to identify and lead meaningful people initiatives
  • Partner and consult with our HR team to manage employee relations issues such as investigations, handling employee disciplinary issues, and performance management situations

Who You Are

  • 6+ years of work experience in talent acquisitions, talent enablement and management with 3+ years of HRBP experience partnering with senior executives in product, technology, business or marketing functions, ideally in environments of high growth and transformation.
  • Proven background in organizational design and building people practices from ground up.
  • Ability to flex between being strategic, analytical, and being a doer who pushes the boundaries of status quo to bring in the right ideas and practices.
  • Curious and consultative approach and can balance inquiry, facilitation, and strong recommendations when needed while drawing from others' strengths.
  • A first principles thinker, with the ability to see possibilities from constraints
  • Generative and adventurous leadership style that invites everyone to set a higher standard and speak up
  • Ability to know when processes enable scale and equity and when we should weigh people over process
  • Able to draw from a mix of logic, intuition, analytics, and experience to establish new insight
  • Competent English and Chinese ability required

Interview process

There are three main stages in our interview process:

  1. Video call (45 mins - 1 hour screening)
  2. Take-home exercise & review
  3. Onsite interview (2 hours visiting)
