Mid-level Frontend Software Engineer

Heptabase is a visual note-taking tools that helps you learn complex topics. Our primary users are professional knowledge workers, such as project owners, researchers, engineers, and many others.

Our mission in Heptabase is to create a world where anyone can effectively establish a deep understanding of anything. We are building tools and platforms that can help people extract, understand, integrate, and apply the knowledge they have learned.

We are looking for a mid-level frontend software engineer who is confident in productively building and owning customer-facing features on our tech stack.

About the Role

• Compensation: 1.7-2.1m TWD/year + 0.5-1% stock options.
• Tech Stack: React, Redux, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, SQLite, MySQL, Node.js, AWS, React Native, Electron. We're solving interesting problems in the areas of local-first collaboration.
• Location: Fully remote in Taiwan with a flexible schedule.
• You will spend the majority of the time either shipping end-user features or talking to users to solve their problems.

Who is eligible to apply for this role?

You need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You have a strong passion for the topic of "helping people learn and research," and have worked on projects related to this topic or worked in related organizations.
• You have been a paying user of Heptabase for more than two months.

What impact will you have in the first 6 months?

• Month 1-3: Implement smaller-scope features using our tech stack and ship them to our users. Communicate with users and customer support to resolve technical issues. Familiarize yourself with our development environment, PR review, and release process.
• Month 4-6: Design and implement the architecture of larger-scope features that require more in-depth frontend knowledge. Clearly communicate your problem analysis with the team and discuss the trade-offs you've made.

What level of skills and experience do you need?

• You need to be proficient in React, Redux, TypeScript, and familiar with Web API and browser performance optimization. You should have experience in building complex and highly interactive components, and be confident in implementing maintainable features using our tech stack, choosing the appropriate technical solution according to the needs of the problem.
• 2 years of industry experience is great, but not necessary if you have made significant contributions to software projects that tackle challenging frontend problems.
