Technology Operations Engineer

Description:

We are looking for a technology operations engineer to join our Technology Command Centre team and help us maintain and improve our Technology operations.

Responsibilities:

As a technology operations engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, and monitoring various cloud hardware and software systems, such as servers, networks, databases, cloud platforms, and security tools. You will also collaborate with other IT professionals and stakeholders to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of our systems in order to provide reliable service to our customers.

The job duties include:

1. Developing automation to help streamline technology operations processes, such as creating scripts or programs designed to run health checks on computer systems automatically.
2. Monitoring the performance metrics of cloud computing systems in real time to ensure service availability and efficient performance.
3. Monitoring the health of applications by analysing system logs for errors and performance problems.
4. Responding to incidents and issues as they arise, and resolving them as quickly as possible.
5. Creating detailed run books of all technical aspects of a cloud computing system such as configuration settings and troubleshooting procedures.
6. Performing capacity planning to determine whether resources have enough space to handle expected growth in demand.

Requirements:

1. To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, and 3+ of experience in a relevant technical position.
2. You should also have strong technical troubleshooting skills in areas such as Linux, Windows, Networking, AWS, SQL, Python, PowerShell, and DevOps tools.
3. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
4. This role supports a 24/7/365 operation model and work schedule will be required to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Preferred qualifications:

1. Proficiency in written and verbal Chinese are highly desirable.
2. Previous experience in a operations support role with proven customer satisfaction.
3. Programming/scripting in Python/Java/Shell/Perl/Ruby/PHP/etc.
4. Experience supporting full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.
5. DevOps and automation/configuration tools Puppet/Chef/Ansible/etc.
