Gerard Dougherty

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Gerard Dougherty is an experienced financial advisor who has spent over three decades of his career serving in the industry. Gerard Dougherty earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts and subsequently completed a certificate in financial management and leadership from Penn State University and American College. He also holds a unique designation as a National Social Security Advisor.

In his early career, Gerard Dougherty served as a financial advisor with large organizations such as National Life of Vermont and Union Central before serving in executive management roles with MetLife, Mutual of New York/AXA, Penn Mutual, and AXA Equitable. In 2012, he founded Boston Independence Group, Inc., a retirement firm solely dedicated to assisting people who are approaching retirement. As president of the company, he guides clients in preserving their assets and generating viable income streams for the future.

Mr. Dougherty is the author of Uncomplicated Money, which can be found on Amazon.com. He is also planning to release a new book titled Retirement Is Within Reach. He writes retirement planning articles for Kiplinger.com and speaks on his two radio programs, Making Money Last and Political Thursday with Gerry Dougherty on WCRN.
