Job Intro
We are hiring a different kind of Customer Success talent. This is not a role about scaling QBRs or running playbooks from 2020. We are looking for someone who treats AI tools (Claude, automation platforms, no-code data tools) as a native part of how they work, and uses them to design the operational systems that make customer retention scalable for a small, high-leverage team.
You will be joining at a pivotal moment. Cake is expanding from custom recruitment services into a full HR SaaS suite (Job Posting, Talent Search, ATS). Retention will determine whether a SaaS business succeeds. This role exists to build the engine including dashboards, lifecycle automation, and retention strategy.
This role reports to the Manager of SaaS business and works alongside the SaaS business squad including the C-level executives. You will own the "behind the scenes" infrastructure: data, automation, programs.
What we're looking for:
AI-native operator: you've already built workflows with Claude or similar tools, not just experimented. You can show us actual prompts, automations, and outputs you have shipped.Systems thinker: you naturally see workflows, spot bottlenecks, and design solutions instead of patching.Comfortable with data: SQL or willing to learn fast; comfortable with at least one BI / no-code analytics tool (Looker, Metabase, Hex, or even an AI-assisted setup).Self-starter: you operate with high autonomy, you ship, and you measure your own impact.Builder mindset: you would rather automate a recurring task than do it manually for the third time.Curious about customers: you want to understand why people churn, why they re-engage, and what makes a SaaS retention loop work.
Responsibilities
This role is structured in three phases over the first 18 months. We are explicit about this so you can see exactly what success looks like at each stage.
Foundation
Map Cake's customer data sources across job posting, talent search, and ATS products.Define and instrument 3–5 customer health and churn-risk metrics.Build the first internal customer health dashboard (tooling open — pick what scales).Document existing CS workflows and identify the top 3 automation opportunities.
Activation Retention Automation
Design and ship reactivation campaigns for dormant enterprise accounts; quantify revenue recovered.Build AI-assisted internal tools (e.g., automated account briefs, customer health summaries, prep notes for client-facing CS) that multiply our team's capacity.Run lifecycle programs (onboarding, expansion triggers, renewal nudges) end-to-end.
Strategic Retention Architecture
Co-author the retention playbook for Cake's HR SaaS suite.Lead cross-functional execution with Marketing, Product, and BD.Build the feedback loop between customer signals and product roadmap.1–3 years of experience in any of: Customer Success Operations, Sales/Marketing/Revenue Operations, Data Analyst, Product Manager, Lifecycle Marketing, or operator at a SaaS / startup.
