Work with a team of technically sophisticated engineers who make developer experience their first priority. Build and deploy tooling across software stack including Firmware, Android Apps and Mobile SDKs, especially build, continuous integration and test automation infrastructure. Work with stakeholders across BBPOS and Stripe Terminal to balance and accommodate competing desires. Interact with global engineering teams and provide them capabilities to build and ship software with speed and reliability. Routinely perform code reviews to ensure high quality designs and implementation. Who you are We are looking for software engineers with an interest in building tools and frameworks for engineers. The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical expertise in building tooling and infrastructure for builds, releases, automated testing; a passion for solving developer productivity problems, and a pragmatic approach to iterative problem solving. Minimum requirements Bachelor Degree or above in Computer Engineering/Science or related discipline. 4+ years of professional, full-time software development experience. Strong problem solver and able to take initiatives in solving problems. Experience writing high quality code in a major programming language, preferably Kotlin, Java or Golang. The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts. This team works closely with partner teams throughout the hardware and software product lifecycle. In this role, you will focus on power and performance aspects of the software design, data flow analysis, and the improvement of battery-life experiences for users. You will also be responsible for coordinating efforts with teams across Android platforms, applications, and hardware to ensure great battery life for Pixel devices.The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Responsibilities Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to meet the power goals. Analyze and optimize the software running across the key components of the chipset (SoC) like Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), memory subsystem, and connectivity. Debug and resolve battery drain issues. Collaborate with Android app teams across Google to help them optimize power. Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
