The Role We are seeking an exceptional Python Lead Engineer to join a small team working on complex data pipelines, AI/ML systems, and cutting-edge software solutions. This role will be responsible for managing technical objectives, providing technical leadership, and maintaining a hands-on approach to development. The ideal candidate will work closely across teams within WorldQuant as part of our business-facing technology organization.A successful candidate will possess deep expertise in Python development, data engineering, software architecture, and design principles. They should be able to mentor junior team members, conduct code reviews, and drive architectural decisions. Experience with AI and large language models (LLMs) is highly desirable. What You'll Bring Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier institution. 7+ years of experience as a Python developer, with a strong focus on data engineering and AI/ML systems. Expert-level knowledge of Python and its ecosystem, including experience with data processing libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark. Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and efficient data pipelines. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Expertise in version control systems (Git), CI/CD practices, and agile methodologies. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment. Experience in the finance industry is a plus but not required. Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, or scikit-learn, LLM, agents or systems of agents is a significant plus. The Role: We are looking for an experienced Python developer who will help us to build and maintain an ecosystem for processing multiple datasets from different sources (both internal and external) vital to the firm’s investment operations. Organize the day-to-day work of the team working on the same software component Collaborate closely with stakeholders to comprehend business requirements, analyze issues, and propose solutions that align with our business goals. Provide technical support for platform-related issues, which includes diagnosing the root causes of technical problems and suggesting appropriate solutions. The Role: We are seeking an exceptionally talented engineer to join our Linux infrastructure team. As a member of the team, you will collaborate closely with application developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Effective communication with a distributed team to handle requests and incidents from high-profile clients is essential. Additionally, you will participate in the development and maintenance of the team’s configuration management system. Knowledge of Linux kernel internals, networking, and performance tuning is a crucial requirement. What You'll Do: Support and maintain the firm’s Linux platform as part of a globally distributed engineering team. Demonstrate a strong sense of task and mission ownership, acting as a liaison between regions. Troubleshoot issues such as packet loss, storage and network latency, and instability. Proactively understand internal clients’ needs and effectively communicate them to leadership both regionally and globally. Identify risks, develop contingency plans, and implement them. Monitor the performance and health of critical computing environments. Drive or assist in fixing advanced system and network issues involving Linux, complex routing, switching schemes, and network protocols, across various platforms (e.g., Slurm, Kubernetes, Salt, Grafana, etc). Participate in occasional (monthly) on-call responsibilities and support on-call staff during their shifts. Exhibit a strong desire to learn and grow skills independently and from senior team members, and maintain training materials and documentation. What You’ll Bring: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and professionally with individuals and teams at varying levels of seniority. A positive and professional attitude when interacting with clients and management during incidents. Strong understanding of Linux system internals, kernel operations, memory management, sockets, interrupts, etc. Strong knowledge of storage technologies, including Pure, Lightbits, GPFS, NFS, and NetApp Basic or advanced knowledge of networking and storage. Solid understanding of network protocols and how the kernel handles them. Proficiency in automating manual processes using Python, shell scripting, or other high-performance interpreted languages. Ability to automate infrastructure tasks or a strong willingness to learn and participate in development.
