Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, NY, and grew up in Houston, where his family encouraged curiosity, education, and a love for exploration. From an early age, he developed the habit of looking beneath the surface of problems and ideas, seeking patterns and connections others might miss. This foundation shaped the way he approaches challenges today, blending analysis with creativity and embracing opportunities that allow him to keep learning and adapting. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was admitted to the competitive Business Honors Program. Majoring in Finance with a minor in Spanish, he graduated in 2018 with a 3.5 GPA. His coursework combined rigorous case analysis with demanding group projects, giving him the tools to think strategically under pressure. The program also instilled discipline, persistence, and a collaborative mindset that guided his transition into professional life. Anthony’s international experience came in 2015 when he studied abroad at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires. Immersed in a new environment, he studied program management while building fluency in Spanish. Living abroad gave him insight into cultural nuance and adaptability, skills that would prove invaluable later in his career. It also broadened his perspective, teaching him to navigate ambiguity and to find common ground in settings where the context and expectations were unfamiliar. He began his career in Finance, completing internships with Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai. These roles deepened his analytical skills and provided exposure to diverse industries and markets. Later, he joined Highside Global Management, a $250 million hedge fund, where he spent four years sourcing investment ideas and managing sector coverage across advertising, logistics, and technology. His work was marked by rigor, discipline, and a constant search for mispriced opportunities. Over time, Anthony Qi’s path expanded into software and product development. As the first employee at a research tools startup, he designed and built products from the ground up, blending technical and strategic thinking. He worked across UI/UX, client development, and data analysis while maintaining his passion for markets and investing.
