I established and led a translational epilepsy research laboratory. Our primary goal was to develop the first disease-modifying therapies for epilepsy. I quickly grew the lab from one scientist (me) to three scientists, one technician, a part-time physician-scientist, and multiple students. As a primary or co-investigator on over $10M in grant funding, we collaborated with leading scientists in Europe, USA, and South America, and published nearly two-dozen peer-reviewed studies.
