Convoy of Hope
Established in 1994, Convoy of Hope is a faith-based humanitarian organization committed to serving people facing hunger, poverty, and crisis. Its work focuses on practical assistance delivered through disaster response, children’s feeding programs, community outreach, and collaboration with churches, businesses, civic organizations, and government agencies. The organization seeks to meet urgent needs while also supporting long-term solutions that help communities move toward stability.
When disasters occur, this humanitarian organization is prepared to respond quickly and efficiently. Relief teams deliver essential supplies, including food, clean drinking water, hygiene items, and other necessities, to families affected by emergencies. When circumstances allow, support continues beyond immediate relief to assist with recovery efforts and help communities begin rebuilding their lives.
Fighting hunger remains a core priority. Children’s feeding initiatives provide daily meals to students in vulnerable communities, helping reduce food insecurity and encouraging consistent school attendance. Alongside feeding programs, agricultural training is offered to individuals and families. These initiatives promote responsible production methods and sustainable farming practices that can improve yields, strengthen local food systems, and reduce long-term dependence on aid.
Empowering women and girls is another essential part of the mission. Through women-focused programs, participants receive support as they start small businesses and work to provide for their families. Training includes topics such as nutrition, health, hygiene, literacy, cooking, agriculture, and early childhood development. Expectant mothers are also supported with education aimed at promoting healthy families. Complementing this work, girls-focused programs provide guidance on self-esteem, positive decision-making, nutrition, and physical and emotional health to help young girls plan for their futures.
The organization operates with support from donated goods, financial contributions, and volunteers who donate their time and skills. This combination of resources allows services to be delivered efficiently while maintaining careful stewardship and accountability.
Today, Convoy of Hope feeds more than 639,000 children worldwide each school day. It has supported over 252,000 women and girls and provided agricultural training to more than 140,000 people. Since 1994, the organization has responded to more than 850 disasters across the United States and internationally. Its commitment to effective service and transparency has earned national recognition, including a ranking of number 27 on Forbes’ list of America’s Top 100 Charities.
The organization was founded by Hal Donaldson, whose early experience of receiving help after his father’s death shaped a lifelong commitment to serving others. What began as small outreach efforts known as Care Days has grown into a global operation. Today, Convoy of Hope works in more than 130 countries and has reached over 350 million people through steady, compassionate service.
