Don Brent Wensauer
Don Brent Wensauer is a dedicated independent real estate professional and the founder and president of Property Management Services, Inc., based in Oklahoma. With nearly 45 years of experience as a practicing attorney, Don has built a multifaceted career combining legal expertise and a passion for real estate investment. His career reflects his commitment to hard work, perseverance, and desire to make a difference in his professional and personal life.
Don’s educational journey began at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma, where he participated in various extracurricular activities. He was a debate team member, earned a letter in wrestling, and was recognized as an outstanding athlete during his senior year. While many of his classmates chose to attend Oklahoma State University, Don decided to participate in Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. After two years at the university, he briefly lived in Dallas before relocating to Sebastopol, California.
In California, Don lived in a commune on an estate once owned by Charles Schulz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. During this time, Don worked as a grape picker in Napa Valley, experiencing life alongside migrant workers. This experience gave him a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the working class, an experience that would shape his outlook on life and influence his future decisions.
Although Don aspired to attend the University of California, Berkeley, financial constraints led him to return to Oklahoma. He enrolled at Southern Nazarene University, where he studied philosophy and religion. Don later continued his education at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law, earning his law degree. While in law school, he worked graveyard shifts at freight docks, further strengthening his work ethic and connection to the working class.
After completing his law degree, Don was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association and began practicing law. At the same time, he entered the real estate investment field, partnering with his father to launch his real estate career. The early years of Don’s real estate career were marked by success, but he faced significant financial challenges when the Oklahoma oil and real estate market crashed. With millions of dollars in debt, Don faced the possibility of bankruptcy. However, instead of following that route, he dissolved his partnership with his parents, thereby protecting their assets.
Through perseverance and negotiation with creditors, Don could repay his debts in full and rebuild his investment portfolio. Today, he manages a real estate exchange fund that oversees large residential portfolios and converts them into commercial properties. His work involves making offers on multi-million-dollar properties and managing tax-deferred exchanges, a complex process requiring high expertise and strategic decision-making.
Don’s work in real estate is both challenging and rewarding. He manages large investments and works under pressure to make high-stakes decisions. Despite the demanding nature of his work, Don thrives in the environment and finds satisfaction in tackling complex problems. His ability to navigate the challenges of the real estate industry has been a key factor in his continued success.
In addition to his real estate career, Don has earned numerous accolades throughout his academic and professional journey. He was awarded the Presidential Honor Award while earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and religion at Southern Nazarene University. At the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law, Don was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for his academic achievements. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the American Bar Association, reflecting his commitment to excellence in his legal career.
Beyond his professional success, Don is also deeply involved in philanthropic activities. He regularly volunteers at First Step, a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and participates in the Behind the Walls ministry, which works with incarcerated individuals in Oklahoma prisons. Don is also a member of AMBUCS, a civic organization that provides therapeutic tricycles to disabled children and veterans, further demonstrating his dedication to helping others.
Don has a variety of personal interests that reflect his diverse passions. He has always been interested in residential architecture and design and recently built his dream home on a lakeside property, drawing inspiration from homes in Naples, Florida. In addition, Don enjoys outdoor activities such as snow skiing, snowboarding, hiking, skydiving, scuba diving, and motorcycling. His love for motorcycling began in Texas and has remained a favorite hobby. Don also has a collection of contemporary art, timepieces, and classic muscle cars, further showcasing his diverse tastes and interests.
Don Brent Wensauer’s life story is one of resilience and determination. From his early experiences in California to his success in law and real estate, Don has faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger each time. As he celebrates nearly 45 years in the legal profession, Don continues to inspire others through his unwavering dedication to his work and commitment to making a difference in the world.
