Dr. Todd Kevin Young, a 54-year-old physician from Springdale, Newfoundland, is a distinguished figure in his community and the medical field. A native of a small town with a population of just 3,000, he has transcended local boundaries to become a pivotal leader in healthcare. He currently leads as the Medical Director at Main Street Medical Clinic and holds the CEO position at MEDICURO Virtual Health Inc., both ventures he established. Dr. Young’s healthcare journey began after graduating with a Diploma in Nursing from the Western Memorial Regional Hospital School of Nursing in 2001. His early roles included significant stints as an outpost nurse in northern Ontario's Indigenous communities, which were foundational in his healthcare approach. He furthered his education at Lakehead University, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and qualifying as a Nurse Practitioner in 2000. His medical aspirations led him to McMaster University, where he received a medical degree in 2004, followed by a rural family medicine residency focusing on underserved populations. He has continued to broaden his expertise, pursuing an Executive MBA in Occupational Health and Safety and a Diploma in Dermatology from Cardiff University. He notably served as the physician lead at the Green Bay Health Center and as the Medical Director at Valley Vista Seniors Home, enhancing the medical care standards in these communities. Additionally, his responsibilities included the Medical Examiner role, where he determined causes of death, further diversifying his professional experience. An innovator at heart, Dr. Young founded Main Street Medical Clinic in 2016, transforming it into a model for rural healthcare by integrating telemedicine, significantly benefiting remote areas.
