He is also a member of the Scottish National Thoraco-Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Complex Aortic Service, which focuses on treating patients with complex aortic conditions.
In 2020, Dr. Giordano introduced a new port-access technique for aortic valve replacement through a mini right anterior thoracotomy, making his center the first in Scotland to offer this approach. Since 2012, he has also been involved in the national TAVI program, where he has contributed to developing surgical access methods and led the department's Quality Improvement Programme, overseeing audits and the creation of new protocols.
Dr. Giordano has played a key role in introducing the Frozen Elephant Trunk (FET) procedure to Scotland, having performed more than 70 such surgeries. He is also committed to educating the next generation of surgeons, regularly participating in workshops and conferences. He is a member of several professional societies, including the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain & Ireland.
