Ernesto Moralez

Assistant Professor of Public Health
Dr. Ernesto Moralez, renowned as an Assistant Professor of Public Health and a Certified Health Education Specialist, has carved a niche for himself in public health education. His roots in New Mexico have shaped his approach, blending a deep commitment to learning with a passion for public health, leading to significant achievements in the sector. His journey began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was born into a family rich in cultural diversity. His mother, a dedicated Mexican immigrant, and his father, a Social Work graduate from San Jose State University, instilled a blend of resilience, empathy, and a broad worldview in him. These influences played a crucial role in shaping his professional aspirations and personal values. He began his academic pursuits at Albuquerque Technical Institute, Central New Mexico Community College. His initial studies at Hunter College in New York City were in Sociology. Still, a pivotal class in Epidemiology at New Mexico State University steered his focus toward public health, culminating in a Bachelor's degree in Human and Community Services in 2007. Determined to delve deeper into public health, he progressed to NMSU's Master's program in Public Health, completing it in 2009. His educational journey was further enriched by an internship at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, contributing significantly to his graduate thesis. 2015, Dr. Ernesto achieved a significant milestone, earning his Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado-Denver.
