Etienne Uzac, an accomplished media entrepreneur, boasts a wealth of experience in both print and digital media, coupled with exceptional skills in global business management. His journey began with transformative relocations from Santiago, Chile, to South Africa and France. He completed his high school education in France at Lycée Stanislas Paris, followed by his college years at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Subsequently, Etienne embarked on an exciting chapter in New York City, where he played a crucial role as part of the founding team of International Business Times (IBT), a digital media company incorporated in New York in 2006. IBT became a prominent provider of all-digital business news coverage in various countries. Over time, the company rebranded as IBT Media and expanded its offerings by introducing notable brands such as Medical Daily, Latin Times, and Player. One, and Fashion Times.
Building upon the growth and success achieved with IBT, Etienne led the remarkable acquisition of Newsweek Magazine by IBT in 2013. This milestone involved Etienne's relocation to Newsweek's offices in Downtown New York, where he and the dedicated IBT team made substantial investments in the development and growth of Newsweek. They assembled a high-performance executive team to lead the publication into the future. Through their diligent efforts, Newsweek transitioned from an e-magazine to a full-fledged news website hosted at its original domain, newsweek.com. Additionally, the print edition of Newsweek was reintroduced, captivating audiences with its influential editorial content. By the end of 2014, Newsweek achieved significant profitability, marking a resounding success. During this period, IBT experienced remarkable growth driven by its proprietary technologies, which provided a competitive edge in the digital publishing landscape. Recognizing the importance of attracting top talent, IBT recruited high-caliber journalists, acquiring numerous prestigious awards, including six SABEWs, one Izzy, and three The Drum Online Media Awards.
