George Drazenovic
Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for almost four years. Before his academic role, he held senior leadership positions in the private sector, managing several ventures within the junior public markets.
His areas of focus include HR management, recruiting, industry collaboration, business development, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic planning, capital markets, regulatory compliance, and investment valuation. He began teaching in the MBA program and was later promoted to Associate Professor. In 2021, he became Chair, reporting to the VP of Academics. By the end of 2024, under his leadership, both student enrollment and faculty numbers grew more than tenfold. He was responsible for overseeing strategic initiatives, academic governance, curriculum development, budget planning, and compliance.
George led three undergraduate programs: an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, supporting over 5,500 students and more than 200 faculty members. He was a voting member of various committees, including the Senate, Curriculum, Governance and Standards, Quality Assurance, Admissions Appeals, and Undergraduate Program Working Committees. He managed the consent renewal process for all three programs and guided the development and revision of many courses.
George introduced structural changes, including new leadership roles, that enhanced faculty coordination and program quality. He oversaw curriculum alignment with CPA Western School of Business and launched technology-focused, certification-aligned courses that expanded career options. His leadership resulted in improvements in academic delivery and scheduling, as well as the implementation of a new learning management system. He supported faculty development, promoted DEI initiatives, launched student initiatives such as Pitch Night, and expanded industry partnerships to support professional growth.
Before joining UCW, he served as CFO, CEO, and Director for various public companies, overseeing financial operations, regulatory filings, and strategic planning. He led mining exploration projects and helped secure funding for pharmaceutical research and trials.
George Drazenovic continues to bring valuable insight and experience to education, business, and research with a steady and thoughtful approach.
