Griffith Littlehale

Emergency Medical Technician
Service and steady personal growth define the direction of Griffith Littlehale’s life and career. Living and working in Toledo, OH, he serves as an Emergency Medical Technician with Ambulance Services. In this role, he provides emergency medical support to individuals who require immediate, careful attention. A significant part of his work involves assisting homebound patients and others who face obstacles in accessing consistent healthcare. He approaches each situation with the belief that quality medical care should be available to all members of the community. His combined training in psychology and emergency medicine allows him to respond with both technical competence and thoughtful awareness of a patient’s emotional state. Griffith grew up in Toledo and attended St. Francis De Sales High School. In 2018, he graduated ranked eighth in his class, reflecting years of consistent academic effort. During the same period, he committed himself to competitive swimming and earned All-American honors in 2017-2018. Balancing athletics and academics required focus and discipline, qualities that continue to influence his professional approach. After high school, he chose to remain in his hometown to attend the University of Toledo, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in psychology. His interest in human behavior and mental processes shaped his academic goals. Early in his college career, he received the President's Education Award for first-year excellence. The Jesup Scott Honors College and the Kappa Psi Fraternity also recognized him. These experiences reinforced his interest in service-oriented work that blends knowledge with practical application. To expand his ability to serve in direct care roles, Griffith completed his Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification in April 2025 through the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The program prepared him for the demands of emergency response, requiring both skill and composure. In 2024, he received the Clinical Excellence Award, sponsored by the University of Toledo and The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC). His EMT responsibilities include patient assessment, basic life support, CPR and AED use, wound care, medication assistance, trauma stabilization, and safe transport. He understands that effective emergency care depends not only on procedures but also on accurate documentation and communication with receiving medical teams. His psychology education supports his ability to recognize anxiety, confusion, or distress that may accompany medical emergencies, helping him provide care that respects the patient as a whole person. Since joining the Ambulance Services in June 2024, Griffith has supported Toledo’s broader community medicine efforts. He responds to urgent calls while also assisting individuals who might otherwise struggle to obtain regular care. His attention to homebound patients reflects his belief that professionalism and dignity should guide every interaction. Beyond his medical responsibilities, Griffith continues to be involved in community service. He volunteers at local churches, helping prepare and serve meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. He has also participated in United Way food drives. In his personal time, he develops his skills in graphic design, creating school advertisements, theater production posters, and custom holiday cards for a local church. He also spends time reading authors such as Bret Easton Ellis, Edgar Allan Poe, Descartes, and Oscar Wilde. As he looks toward the next stage of his journey, Griffith Littlehale is considering graduate education in psychology and potential clinical practice. He is also exploring organizational behavior, particularly workplace diversity and mental health. Alongside healthcare, he hopes to continue building his freelance graphic design work and travel to experience different cultures. Through dedication and service, he remains focused on contributing steadily and responsibly to the community that shaped him.
