Harvey Kryger, also known as Abraham Harvey Kryger, has recently entered retirement after a distinguished tenure as the owner and Medical Director of the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic in Monterey, California. His leadership transformed the clinic into a hub for preventive health, focusing on staving off diseases through tailored wellness strategies that include diet, exercise, and hormone therapy. Although he stepped down in 2023, he continues to influence the field by conducting research and offering advice to his former patients.
Kryger’s professional credentials are robust. He holds an MD and a DMD and is certified in family practice. He has also been a pioneer in alternative medicine as the founder of the Alternative Medicine Foundation, boasting a career that spans over five decades in healthcare.
His academic journey began at the University of Manitoba, Canada, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1964, his DMD in 1969, and his MD in 1973. His postgraduate training included an internship and fellowships at Stanford University’s Santa Clara Valley Medical Centre, where he specialized in surgery and burn treatment.
Starting his career in 1969 in Vancouver, Canada, Kryger initially worked as a dentist. He also provided vital dental services to Indigenous communities in Northern Manitoba. His medical journey progressed significantly in 1975 when he joined the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, quickly rising to the position of Medical Director.
From 1977 to 1980, Kryger was deeply involved at the Sonoma County Holistic Health Center in Monte Rio, CA, where he integrated holistic health practices with traditional medicine, working alongside a multidisciplinary team that included acupuncturists.
During his influential tenure at the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, starting in 1990, Kryger concentrated on health promotion and disease prevention, notably specializing in hormone balancing. He was instrumental in expanding the clinic's offerings to include integrative therapies such as massage.
Kryger is also a published author. His significant work, "Listen To Your Hormones," published in 2004, shaped the field of hormonal health and facilitated the development of innovative medical treatments.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Kryger is passionate about the arts and agriculture. He enjoys painting and sculpting and maintains a farm where he raises various animals and promotes conservation efforts, particularly for Monarch butterflies.
