Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with almost twenty years of experience dedicated to cancer care, clinical research, and advancing equity in medicine. Her work spans academic, government, and private healthcare settings, where she has prioritized effective treatment and clinical trials for a broad range of cancer types. As an investigator in over 40 oncology clinical trials, she has contributed to the development of new therapies and the expansion of access to innovative treatments for diverse patient populations. She is committed to improving care for underserved communities. Through virtual consultancy and pro bono second-opinion services, she has supported cancer patients in South Asia, helping address disparities in access to specialized oncology expertise. Drawing on her South Asian background and clinical experience, she approaches patient care with a culturally informed and compassionate perspective. Her professional experience includes roles in Southern California, Atlanta, and Washington D.C., as well as federal appointments at the FDA, NIH, and VA. In these positions, she has balanced clinical duties, regulatory review, and research responsibilities, always focused on patient outcomes. Her work as a locum tenens physician has provided continuity of care during transitions and in regions with limited oncology resources. Dr. Hima holds a Biochemistry degree from Brown University and a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center, followed by a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Her career includes serving as a staff physician and clinical researcher at Compassionate Cancer Care Medical Group, as well as holding leadership roles at The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, where she contributed to expanding access to clinical trials in Georgia. She has also provided advisory support to initiatives with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and delivered care at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology, with active medical licenses in several states. Her ongoing dedication to research, clinical excellence, and patient advocacy is reflected in honors such as the 2023 FDA CDER Civility Award. She continues to advance cancer care and support the well-being of patients and communities, guided by a strong sense of service and commitment to equity.
