Holly DeNeve is an Indiana attorney whose career has been firmly rooted in child welfare law. With more than 10 years of service at the Indiana Department of Child Services, she managed a wide range of cases involving children and families in complex, often life-changing circumstances. Her work consistently reflected a strong commitment to preparation, calm decision-making, and a steady focus on protecting children's best interests, even when the results went unrecognized publicly.
Holly graduated from New Prairie High School in 2004 and earned a degree in political science with a minor in environmental studies in 2008. Graduating magna cum laude, she demonstrated early dedication to academic excellence. She then earned her Juris Doctor in 2011 and passed the Indiana Bar Exam later that year. Rather than seeking a private practice career, she chose to dedicate her skills to public service and supporting vulnerable populations.
Her legal work began shortly after law school, starting as a temporary legal assistant before becoming a full-time staff attorney in St. Joseph County. In that role, she handled cases involving children in need of services, adoptions, guardianships, and the termination of parental rights. Her duties included drafting motions, preparing discovery, interviewing witnesses, and conducting courtroom examinations. She became known for her dependable and composed presence in legal proceedings.
Throughout her time with the department, Holly worked closely with judges, prosecutors, and caseworkers, while keeping up with changes in case law and statutes. Her experience and clear communication style led to her being selected to present at several continuing legal education seminars. In 2016, she briefly left the agency but returned within months and remained until September 2025, reflecting her commitment to the work.
Outside of her professional role, Holly and her husband have supported local organizations through donations and community involvement. Her early law school experiences helping victims of domestic violence further shaped her understanding of the law’s role in people’s lives.
Holly DeNeve now looks ahead to starting a solo practice focused on mediation, guardian ad litem representation, and child protection, continuing her work with purpose and care.
