Jeff Webb Cheerleading is well-known in cheerleading, business, and philanthropy. He is the senior news editor for Human Events, a long-standing news and analysis outlet based in Washington, D.C. The publication, which takes its name from the opening sentence of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, was founded in 1944 as a print newspaper and became a digital-only outlet in 2013. Webb joined the team in 2020 as senior news editor and co-publishes the website with executive opinion editor Will Chamberlain. Webb is also known for his leadership roles at Varsity Brands and Herff Jones. He founded Varsity Spirit, a cheerleading and performing arts innovation company, in 1974 and served as its CEO until 2018. Varsity Spirit now operates under the Varsity Brands parent company, and Webb remained chairman until 2020. Webb was also chairman of Herff Jones 2020, a company that manufactures educational recognition products and motivational materials and is involved in college and professional sports, including cheerleading. Webb's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in political science and government from the University of Oklahoma. While attending the university, Webb was an active campus leader and worked with the National Cheerleaders Association. He left the association to establish the Universal Cheerleading Association and the precursor to Varsity Brands, Varsity Spirit. In addition to his business and editorial work, Webb is also a dedicated philanthropist. He has been closely involved with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for over a decade, supporting its efforts to understand, treat, and defeat childhood cancers and other life-threatening illnesses.
