Lee Generous
Lee Generous is a wealth advisor and the founder of Generous Wealth Management, a virtual advisory firm based in Massachusetts. He holds advanced professional designations, including Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Enrolled Agent (EA), and Dope CFO Certified Advisor, reflecting his deep investment strategy, tax planning, and wealth management knowledge. Lee also provides advisory services to cannabis and hemp businesses and contributes his expertise as a member of the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Banking and Finance Committee.
Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and raised in Marshfield, Lee grew up with a strong sense of discipline and determination. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 20 months old, he learned the value of consistency and focus early in life. As a boy, he showed a natural interest in finance, using his paper route savings to purchase his first mutual fund. His curiosity about numbers and planning later evolved into a lifelong professional pursuit.
He earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2004. While in college, he started a small business to help pay his tuition, gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and financial management. Seeking to strengthen his technical knowledge, he completed a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University’s Center for Professional Education between 2011 and 2012. Lee later completed the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) program through The American College of Financial Services in 2016–2017. He achieved Enrolled Agent (EA) status with the IRS, enabling him to represent clients in complex tax matters.
Lee Michael Generous began his career at Fidelity Investments in Boston in 2005, where he held roles across pricing, cash management, family office services, and relationship management. His early work as an analyst involved preparing and reviewing global equity and fixed-income pricing data and ensuring the timely delivery of financial information to key stakeholders. Later, as Lead Analyst at Fidelity Family Office Services, he managed high-net-worth client relationships and helped shape operational structures for new business units. His performance earned him chairman shares in recognition of his contributions. In 2013, he became a Relationship Manager at Fidelity Personal Investments, where he supported affluent clients through personalized strategies designed to meet their long-term financial goals.
In 2015, Lee joined a top-100 LPL independent advisory firm in Braintree, Massachusetts, as a Wealth Advisor. Over nearly seven years, he managed a large client base and oversaw financial planning that included investments, taxes, estate, and retirement strategies. His focus on integration and client education helped double the assets under management in his practice.
In November 2021, after his wife’s recovery from cancer and while navigating his own health challenges as a type 1 diabetic during the pandemic, Lee fulfilled his dream of founding Generous Wealth Management. The firm, officially approved by the Massachusetts Securities Division in March 2022, offers a comprehensive family office-style service that integrates tax planning, investment management, and legacy planning. Lee Generous's mission is to simplify complex financial decisions for high-net-worth families, business owners, and entrepreneurs through coordinated, proactive advice.
His specialization in the cannabis and hemp industry sets him apart in the advisory field. As a franchise owner of Dope CFO Certified Advisors and co-founder of Dope CFO Wealth Management, Lee helps cannabis-related businesses nationwide navigate accounting, tax, and compliance challenges. He also advises on financing, capital raises, and M&A activity. Through his role with the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Banking and Finance Committee, he advocates for improved financial practices and compliance solutions in this evolving sector.
Beyond his professional commitments, Lee Generous is an active member of NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) and supports causes close to his heart. He volunteers at the Boston Pine Street Inn, contributes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and participates in the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital.
