During my university years, I immersed myself in various design roles that enhanced my creative and leadership skills. Starting with my involvement in BEM GAMA FIB UNPAD as a staff member in the Media and Publications Department, I focused on creating engaging Instagram content and main event posters. This role laid the foundation for my subsequent leadership positions, including Head of Media and Publications Division for the FIB Career Talk webinar series and OPERA BUDAYA. In this capacity, I led the team in conceptualizing and executing visual content, ensuring our creative vision was communicated effectively.
My leadership journey continued when I took on the role of Creative Media Director at the ASEAN Youth Initiative Conference, where I was responsible for overseeing all creative media activities and ensuring our communications were aligned with the conference objectives. I also held the position as Deputy Head of Media and Publications Division at Padjadjaran English Competition, where I contributed to major projects such as creating the main event poster and assisting the division head with various tasks.
Each of these roles not only allowed me to refine my graphic design skills across various mediums, but also strengthened my ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple projects, shaping me into a versatile and effective graphic designer ready to meet professional demands.
Description
During my time as an English Literature major at Padjadjaran University, I immersed myself deeply in the study of the English language, exploring a broad spectrum of subjects ranging from classical and contemporary literature to intricate aspects of linguistics. My academic journey intensified when I discovered a deep interest in linguistics, particularly in pragmatics - a field that examines how context contributes to meaning. This interest led me to delve into pragmatic theory, exploring how language is used in real-world situations to achieve certain effects and communicate beyond the literal meaning of words.
This particular focus culminated in my decision to dedicate my thesis to the study of pragmatic linguistics. My research explores complex instances of pragmatics in everyday communication, analyzing how people use language to perform actions, convey intentions, and navigate social interactions. This scholarly pursuit not only enriched my understanding of linguistic nuances but also honed my analytical skills, allowing me to apply this knowledge to the multifaceted challenges of graphic design.
This comprehensive linguistic training has allowed me to craft narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, enhancing my creative output in graphic design by integrating a deeper understanding of communication and its impact on audience engagement. This unique blend of advanced linguistic knowledge and visual design skills has enabled me to deliver projects that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also contextually meaningful, showcasing the versatility and adaptability I bring to the field of graphic design.
