After graduating from Nova Scotia Community College, he entered the construction industry at 22. Initially, he gained experience working for a local builder, quickly learning about building systems and methodologies applicable to both residential and commercial construction. He later advanced to a managerial position at a coastal roofing company, where he provided estimates for projects ranging from $20,000 to $250,000.
In 2007, he returned to NSCC to enhance his education in investment management, completing certifications including the Canadian Securities Course and Life License Qualification Program. Afterward, he spent five years as a Financial Planner and Mobile Mortgage Specialist at Scotiabank. In 2017, he returned to construction, taking a foreman role at the Laborer's International Union of North America, managing up to 15 employees.
Driven by a blend of financial acumen and construction experience, he founded Matty Renos in 2018. He successfully transformed a residential property into a profitable Airbnb, which led to further property conversions, including upgrading a single-family home into a duplex and then a triplex, significantly enhancing his real estate portfolio.
Under his leadership, Matty Renos provides extensive residential renovation services, including complete home remodels, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, and advanced custom carpentry. His approach focuses on aligning with homeowners' functional needs and aesthetic visions, ensuring each project meets their expectations.
His commitment to excellence extends to his personal life. He is an avid reader, enjoys golf, and maintains his health through yoga and regular exercise, necessary for his demanding role. Moreover, he dedicates time to Feed Nova Scotia, a charity that distributes food to people in need, reflecting his commitment to giving back to the community.
His combination of entrepreneurial success, dedication to quality, and community involvement make him a respected figure in his industry and beyond.
