Michael Quantrell is a skilled Captain with over 20 years of experience in yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. Throughout his career, he has managed multimillion-dollar refits and coordinated vessel deliveries along the East Coast. His calm and capable leadership has guided him through challenging situations, including navigating the intense conditions of Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017. His passion for life on the water began during his childhood in Camden, Maine, where he spent much of his time sailing or skiing. At a young age, Michael earned three medals at the Junior Olympics, including a bronze and a silver in the Laser Class Division. His dedication to competitive sailing led him to professional racing programs in New Zealand, New England, and England. In high school, he excelled in skiing, later competing for a decade in Friday night lights skiing events in Maine. While living in Florida, he continued to challenge himself, winning all three qualifiers in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge and securing additional wins in smaller events. He began his professional career as a yacht Captain at just 18, managing vessels from 20 to 120 feet and captaining yachts up to 112 feet, with his most recent command being a 100-foot vessel. Quantrell has overseen extensive yacht refits, transforming vessels into highly functional and well-maintained crafts. His experience includes transporting yachts from Mexico and throughout the United States, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the East Coast. For nearly five years, he has owned Ox Eye Marine Corporation, managing multiple yachts from 40 to 112 feet along the Eastern Seaboard, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. The company handles complete vessel management, including project oversight, crew placement, systems analysis, refits, overseas shipping, sales, and participation in boat shows. Among his notable roles, he served as Captain for a 96’ Broward for 18 months, overseeing a $300k refit, directing crew operations, ensuring compliance, and managing travel logistics. Michael also captained a 90-foot Offshore for two years, leading a multimillion-dollar refinance and refit that restored the yacht to peak condition. Additional work includes delivery operations for a 112’ Westport, estate and vessel management in Palm Beach, and service on several other notable yachts, including a 59’ Herreshoff, where he managed racing and crew training. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys time on the water, caring for his dogs, and spending quality time with loved ones.
