Paolo Farah is a renowned legal scholar and professor whose expertise spans international economic law, environmental sustainability, and global trade regulations. He is committed to fostering international cooperation to address critical global issues such as environmental conservation and ethical trading practices. Farah is a prolific author who has significantly contributed to academic literature and consults with various international organizations. Farah’s academic achievements began with a J.D. in International and European Law from Paris Ouest La Defense Nanterre University in France. He earned an LLM in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, in 2003 and completed a dual PhD in International Law from Aix-Marseille University in France and the University of Milan in Italy in 2011. His professional journey includes positions at the World Trade Organization's Legal Affairs Division in Geneva and as an associate lawyer at Baker & McKenzie in Milan, where he specialized in international business law. Paolo is a full professor at West Virginia University, within the John D. Rockefeller IV School of Policy and Politics at the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. He teaches public administration, law, environmental policy, and energy justice courses and directs the Energy Justice and Just Transition Lab. He also coordinates the Eberly College Interdisciplinary Research Collaborative, working to solve global problems through cross-disciplinary research. Internationally, Farah holds the prestigious position of Internationally Renowned Professor of Law at Beijing Foreign Studies University in China, where he mentors students and directs the Summer Law Institute in China, a pivotal program for legal professionals globally. In addition to his teaching roles, Paolo has worked on advisory projects for the United Nations Development Program, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Commerce, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. His scholarly contributions include over 60 peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and books. He is also the editor-in-chief for several academic series, including Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan, and Wolters Kluwer’s "Studies on Globalization" series. Paolo has also held several leadership roles, including serving on the European Society of International Law board and chairing its Interest Group on International Environmental Law. His leadership extends to roles in the American Society of International Law and the International Law Association. As the founder and president of gLAWcal — Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development, Paolo Davide Farah promotes research and dialogue on sustainable development and global justice. He is multilingual, speaking Italian, English, French, and Chinese, which enhances his ability to collaborate internationally and contribute to global dialogues.
