Philip Nevenhoven has 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry, working as a program manager and quality assurance leader. His career has included supporting executive, commercial, and military aircraft systems. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed complex programs, enhanced production quality, and led teams to achieve compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense standards.
His dedication to craftsmanship and problem-solving started early while growing up in a small town in Iowa. At 13, he helped remodel a house for a friend’s father, who owned a construction company. During that summer, he completed his first full electrical wiring job, which began his interest in learning through hands-on work and building.
During high school, Philip spent breaks working with a general contractor, gaining experience in all phases of residential construction. His practical approach and skills caught the attention of his high school shop teacher, who joined him on construction sites during the summer to learn directly from the work being done.
After earning a degree in carpentry, Nevenhoven returned to home construction before taking the union carpentry apprenticeship test in a nearby city. At 19, he passed the exam successfully, becoming the youngest to pass without completing a formal apprenticeship.
His path led him from residential construction to fine interior trim carpentry. Following a job site injury, he decided to take a different direction. In 1995, he entered the aerospace industry in Kansas, where he worked on the interiors of custom business jets, marking the beginning of a long and steady career in the aerospace field.
Drawing on his craft background, Nevenhoven transitioned into roles in quality, engineering, and program management within the aerospace industry. He worked for major aerospace organizations across the U.S., Canada, and France, supporting executive and military aviation programs. Leading a team of over 50 quality engineers and program managers, he delivered large-scale programs and supported continuous improvement.
Philip managed teams across engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, ensuring FAA conformity, AS9100 compliance, and ISO quality standards. His work included overseeing aircraft interior production, seating systems, and managing full program lifecycles from design and certification through delivery. He worked closely with OEMs and suppliers, managing product conformity, subcontractor inspections, and addressing technical and compliance challenges in domestic and international settings.
Nevenhoven also led training and process improvement initiatives, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing rework, and supporting FAA audits and customer certifications. His use of CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and lean quality systems has helped improve design, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturability across aircraft platforms.
Known for his ability to guide teams, Philip has maintained steady progress under tight deadlines and shifting priorities. His clear and calm communication has helped align stakeholders and support decisions. He has served as the primary point of contact during conformity inspections and certification phases, leading audits and collaborating with the FAA and aviation authorities to ensure certification and delivery schedules are maintained.
Nevenhoven earned his Catia V5 Certificate from Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research in 2006 and received his AOS/Certificate in Building Trades/Carpentry from Ellsworth Community College in 1989.
He has supported organizations like Goodwill and similar nonprofits, maintaining a commitment to giving back to the community. In his time, he enjoys home renovation, fitness, and distance running, having received awards for finishing high in races.
Philip Nevenhoven consistently demonstrates strong leadership, practical experience, and a commitment to quality throughout his work in the aerospace industry.
