Robert Hume Campo, originally from Georgia, has long demonstrated qualities of diligence, bravery, and responsibility. His journey in safety began as a Lieutenant in the Fire Marshal office in Roswell, GA, where he developed a focused interest in construction safety. He spent considerable time reviewing construction blueprints to ensure fire and life safety compliance, sharpening his ability to identify risks and promote safe building practices. His career advanced when he took on the role of Safety Professional for General Motors Corporation in Rayong, Thailand. This move marked a significant turning point, both geographically and professionally. Robert managed safety for a substantial construction effort, taking on a broader level of responsibility. His work ensured that safe practices were maintained throughout the large-scale project. Robert Hume continued his international work and supported dual projects in the Marshall Islands under the US Corps of Engineers contract. His responsibilities included serving as an environmental liaison and overseeing safety in compliance with EM-385 standards. His reliability and focus on detail were essential to maintaining safe and efficient project operations in a challenging environment. Upon returning to the United States, he applied his skills to heavy civil engineering projects. Hume Campo contributed to safety management with Kiewit Construction and Ames Construction, with experience in railroad construction, tunneling, mining, and open-pit operations. His wide range of safety certifications and practical field experience made him a valuable asset to these high-risk projects. He also managed NavFac and Corps of Engineers projects in several states, providing oversight and conducting safety training sessions. In 2004, his contributions were recognized when he was named AZ AGC Safety Professional of the Year, reflecting his consistent dedication and effective leadership. Outside of his career, Robert served as an EMT and firefighter and supported organizations like Toys for Tots, Shriners, Vietnam Veteran Memorial, Wounded Warriors, ASPCA, and the Humane Society, showing his continued commitment to community service.
