Roy Y. Gagaza is president and CEO of Journey Wealth Management, LLC, where he helps individuals and families prepare for retirement in a calm and organized way. He leads a firm with offices in Manteca, California, and Aiea and Honolulu, Hawaii, serving people who are approaching retirement as well as those already living in it. He focuses on explaining options clearly, avoiding pressure, and building plans that reflect each person’s goals, values, and comfort with risk rather than relying on generic strategies. Roy began his career in the U.S. Army Reserve and later moved to active duty, serving for 20 years as an Armor Officer. He became Airborne- and Ranger-qualified and led a tank platoon with the 1st Armored Division during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He later commanded a cavalry troop in South Korea. He served as an Operations and Training Officer, helping prepare units from company through brigade level for deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, earning the Bronze Star for his service. Roy Y. Gagaza started planning his transition into financial services while still on active duty, drawing on his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from San Jose State University. He began meeting with clients, conducting educational seminars, and studying for professional designations even during demanding periods, including a year-long deployment to Kuwait in 2004. He went on to earn credentials as a Certified Estate Planner and Registered Financial Consultant. He retired from the Army in 2008, carrying his commitment to service into helping people understand and organize their financial futures. Roy now leads Journey Wealth Management in offering retirement income planning, investment and wealth management, tax planning strategies, health care strategies, and legacy and estate planning services. He works to listen carefully, answer questions in everyday language, and respect each client’s wishes and priorities. He is originally from Livermore, California, and is married to a spouse who serves as his partner in life and business as the firm’s CFO and co-founder. He has three adult children, including one who works in the family business and others in education and marketing operations, along with grandchildren, and in his free time, he enjoys travel, golf, reading, and spending time in or near the water, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and diving.
