Established in 1992, Ryegate Associates has emerged as a prominent local power provider, leading the operation of a state-of-the-art 20 MW wood-fired electrical power (biomass) generation facility. Our steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability is demonstrated through integration of an advanced Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system, effectively mitigating emissions from the plant.

The SCR device is an impressive engineering marvel, featuring a stack bypass that adeptly directs combustion gases through a series of 477 ceramic plates, each measuring 2 feet by 2 feet. Within these plates resides a titanium catalyst akin to the technology found in automotive catalytic converters. The results are truly noteworthy, with NOx emissions experiencing a substantial reduction, dropping from approximately 1.5 lbs/mmBTU to a mere 0.75 lbs/mmBTU, marking an impressive 50% decrease.

Functioning as a dependable baseload electrical generation plant, our facility consistently operates at or near total capacity, ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted power supply to our valued customers. The only exceptions to this steadfast commitment are brief intervals designated for scheduled maintenance, during which we meticulously optimize the plant's performance.
