Since his appointment in 2021, Sam Yoon has been the Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Vice-Chair of Surgical Oncology Research and Education at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. His clinical focus is on sarcomas, stomach and gastroesophageal junction cancers, and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). He is at the forefront of clinical trials. He is a prominent figure at international medical conferences discussing the urgent need for advances in the treatment of gastric cancer, which results in over 750,000 deaths globally from more than a million new cases each year. He is highly regarded for his patient-centered approach, drawing patients from throughout the tri-state area. His medical excellence has been recognized repeatedly, earning him spots on the Best Doctors in America list in 2010-2011 and from 2017 to 2020.
