William Alvarez is a distinguished industrial engineer with more than 20 years of experience in demand, supply, inventory, and logistics operations. His expertise spans extensive analytical abilities and management experience in warehousing, logistics, supply chain management, and finance. His collaborative approach, complemented by his proficient problem-solving, negotiation, creativity, and decision-making skills, have been crucial to his success across various professional roles. Currently, Alvarez is engaged on a contract basis as an Inventory Control Specialist at JDE Peet's, the leading global pure-play coffee and tea company. In this capacity, he oversees the coordination of lot codes and expiration dates between Peet's third-party logistics providers and internal systems. Additionally, Alvarez is involved in the real estate sector, where he invests in and renovates properties for resale, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit. Before his current engagement at Peet's, he served as the Inventory Rx Manager at CVS Pharmacy, Inc., in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. During his three-year tenure, Alvarez developed a data and reporting infrastructure from scratch using Tableau/BI and SQL, facilitating real-time insights into products, marketing funnels, and business KPIs. He also enhanced operations, inventory, and planning processes to optimize accuracy and minimize manual intervention. Moreover, he generated various reports, ranging from daily to quarterly, using both newly created and existing tables within the SQL Oracle database. He was integral in the transition to the "Snowflake Interface," broadening the analytical capabilities of the CVS Pharmacy division's inventory and operational team. Alvarez also conducted weekly training sessions to improve the inventory planning team's SQL skills and led strategic S&OP Forecast Consensus meetings to align marketing, operations, and supply planning forecasts. At CVS, Alvarez was pivotal in developing effective forecasting models and managing inventory replenishment and allocation processes for all COVID-19 testing programs within the network. He served as the primary liaison between vendors and CVS finance and regional leadership, coordinating monthly sales forecasts and facilitating strategic business initiatives. Earlier in his career, Alvarez worked with Cardinal Health as a Global Demand/Supply Planner and with Hasbro as a Global Planner for Supply Chain and operations. After moving from Venezuela, his first role in the United States was as a Customer Logistics Manager with Ryder System, where he managed day-to-day operations within one of the company's key account distribution centers. Alvarez graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Jose Maria Vargas University and obtained his Master of Liberal Arts in Finance from Harvard Extension School. He holds a Forecast Business Analytics Certification from the Wharton School of Business and a Master Black Belt Six Sigma certification from Villanova University. Proficient in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese, Alvarez enjoys playing the guitar, running, and exercising. Earlier, he worked as a fashion show model and participated in Mr. Venezuela. He has a wife and three kids. William Alvarez continues to apply his extensive expertise to excel in his professional endeavors and personal pursuits.
