Timberlake Police Department Welcomes Nick Dolbin, New Leadership

The Village of Timberlake has recently seen significant changes in its police department. On November 20, Chief Susan Scofield stepped down from her position. The following day, Mayor John Marra swore in Sgt. Nick Dolbin as the new Chief of Police.

Scofield has filed a civil lawsuit against the village, alleging discrimination based on sex, religion, and age. She claims to be "currently employed but under constructive termination," attributing her situation to age-related discrimination. Scofield, who was hired by the village in February 2011, was promoted to chief in February 2021.

In a bid to strengthen the department, the village introduced a number of part-time officers. Nine were sworn in on November 21, followed by additional hires in December, along with two auxiliary officers. Mayor Marra highlighted plans to recruit officers from the local police academy and provide specialized training to enhance the department's capabilities.

"This is a significant step for us," Marra stated. "We're bringing in experienced officers who will contribute greatly to the department. Rebuilding has been our focus, and these efforts are geared toward better protecting the citizens of Lake County."
