The 2024 Digital & International Talent Job Fair, a remarkable collaborative effort by the Ministry of Digital Affairs Taiwan, the National Development Council, the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office, and other key stakeholders, was successfully held in early June. This event was not only about promoting job vacancies but also about our mission to recruit talent for the digital industry. The goal of this event was to collaborate with enterprises to create new opportunities for international talent recruitment and jointly promote the growth of Taiwan’s digital economy.
At the Job Fair, job seekers received the latest information about various career opportunities and were invited to explore onsite job openings through face-to-face interviews.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs partnered with the international job search platform Cake for this event, bringing together over 20 digital-oriented companies, including technology, cybersecurity, and FinTech firms such as Compal, Wistron, Acer Information, Pegatron, MoBagel, Wing Fung Bank, and Taiwan Mobile. There were more than 1,800 job vacancies available, ranging from AI and data science to cybersecurity and digital marketing, with an average monthly salary of NT$50,000 for participants to explore.
The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly a thousand talent, including foreign job seekers, and creating a lively, interactive atmosphere.
Hu Bei Di, deputy director of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, mentioned that with the rapid development of generative AI and cybersecurity, the demand for related talent and job vacancies has significantly increased. The most sought-after talent will not only possess extensive R&D and technical skills but also practical cross-domain knowledge and digital capabilities. In the near future, we can expect the continuous cultivation of relevant talent programs initiated based on Minister Huang’s three-arrow strategy.
To meet the industry’s demand for digital talent, the Ministry of Digital Affairs will continue to target college students from non-information and communications backgrounds and young people within three years of graduation. This will be achieved by enhancing students' AI application and digital capabilities through a mix of online and offline courses and industrial practice, while also including information security-related courses to respond to technological trends and instill the concept of digital resilience early on.
Additionally, to accelerate the supply of AI and digital-related talent and enable foreign talent to contribute to domestic industries, the Ministry of Digital Affairs actively assists foreign students in Taiwan in familiarizing themselves with Taiwan's industrial environment, increasing their willingness to stay in Taiwan for employment after graduation. The department also continues to promote the Digital Employment Gold Card to attract international digital talent to Taiwan for exchanges, employment, or entrepreneurship, allowing Taiwanese businesses to benefit from international talent and accelerating the digital transformation of Taiwan’s industries, thereby building it into a "smart technology island.”
