Kubernetes Resume: Templates & Formats [Skills, Objective, Summary]

Created by CakeIn this article, you will learn about:How to write a Kubernetes resume? What to put on a Kubernetes resume?Tips for writing the best Kubernetes resumeHow to write a Kubernetes cover letter?Kubernetes resume sampleThe average DevOps Kubernetes engineer salary in the USA is around $150,000 per year, while the most experienced engineers can earn around $200,000 per year. Yet before you get your dream engineering job, you have to write the professional Kubernetes administrator/engineer/DevOps resume first. A Kubernetes engineer is there to help optimize containerized service configuration and automation. You implement and design solutions to manage cloud-native applications. Even if you’ve got the skills for a Kubernetes engineer job, you still have to write an eye-catching resume to compete against other strong candidates. However, writing a concise yet strong Kubernetes resume can be time-consuming. Here are resume tips to get your Kubernetes resume done quickly. How to write a Kubernetes resume?🖋 Step 1: Choose the right format for your Kubernetes resume. To write a Kubernetes engineer resume, choose a resume format that helps to showcase your skills and experience. There are 3 common formats to adopt for your Kubernetes resume: The chronological resume format presents the timeline of one’s work experience. The functional resume format underlines the applicant’s strong job-related skills. The combinational resume format highlights both experience and skills and is suitable for senior or experienced candidates. 🖋 Step 2: Look up Kubernetes DevOps resume examples as references. There might not be a lot of Kubernetes resume examples, but you can always browse resume examples of other types of engineers or refer to DevOps resume examples. When you spot a good one, take notes on how they phrase work experience. 🖋 Step 3: Tailor your Kubernetes resume for the job position. Each K8s engineer job might slightly differ in requirements. Plus, the hiring department might use ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to scan thousands of Kubernetes resumes and filter out candidates. To pass the ATS, you have to tailor your Kubernetes resume by inserting keywords used in the job posting. 🖋 Step 4: Craft a Kubernetes engineer cover letter. Attaching a cover letter with your Kubernetes resume is highly recommended. It provides a valuable opportunity to speak to hiring people and increases your chances to leave an impression. Read on to learn how to write a professional Kubernetes engineer resume. 🖋 Step 5: Find an expert to proofread your Kubernetes resume. Before you send it out, find engineer friends of yours or colleagues to proofread your Kubernetes resume. Make sure it is typo-free and has no grammatical errors. Experts from the industry will provide insightful advice on your Kubernetes resume or more precise ways to phrase your achievements. What to put on a Kubernetes resume?1. Start with a resume profile. List your contact details on the top of the Kubernetes resume, including:Full nameProfessional emailTelephone numberLocation (optional)LinkedIn/Github URL 2. Write a headline for your Kubernetes resume. Next, add a headline that defines your professional role. It should align with the Kubernetes position you are applying for. Make it strong, short, and concise, like a news headline. Kubernetes resume headline example Kubernetes Engineer with 7 years of experience. 3. Add a summary to your Kubernetes resume. A resume summary is a short paragraph that sums up your work experience. It can be done after you finish writing the Kubernetes DevOps resume and should be placed upfront before the work experience section. Be sure to include your best related Kubernetes skills and achievements to wow the hiring manager. Kubernetes resume summary example: Agile Kubernetes Administrator with 9 years of experience in financial services. At Robinhood devoted to AWS infrastructure transition from Terraform+SaltStack to K8s to improve microservice streamline workflow and optimize application developing environment. Resulted in a 40% lead time reduction and positive team feedback. 4. Include a resume objective for entry-level Kubernetes jobs. Resume objectives are for candidates who lack work experience. Objectives clearly state the applicant’s ambition and long-term goals and how the job fits into those goals. Kubernetes resume objective example: Determined Kubernetes engineer with 5+ years of experience. Seeking to leverage proven deployment operation skills to increase automated system efficiency. Identified and revised system risk before launch and saved $140K cost loss in the previous role. 5. List your skills for the Kubernetes job. Most applicants emphasize technical skills by listing endless and unorganized code languages or DevOp tools that take up 50% of their Kubernetes resume. Instead of giving a list of unorganized skills, here’s what you can do: categorize skills and demonstrate what you can achieve by utilizing these technical skills; only include related skills or give concrete examples to prove your familiarity. Kubernetes resume skill examples: Container Application automation:Kubernetes and DockerRelated tools: Unix/Linux, Salt/Ansible, Bash, Jenkins, and AWS/VMWare/CiscoConfiguration Management: Puppet, Salt, Ansible, and ChefLanguage: 8 years of experience in Python, Go, C/C++, and JavaDeveloping knowledge: Continuous Integration/Delivery, Agile Methodologies, Scrum, and Build and ReleaseSoft skills: Adaptability, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving 6. Show your Kubernetes DevOps work experience. The work experience section is where you shine. Show your most recent job first and then the less recent ones. Here are two ways to write work experience for your Kubernetes resume: 1. Apply the STAR method when writing your work experience. Think about the situation you have faced, the task you have undertaken, the action you have taken, and the result you have produced when you write achievements of your previous jobs. 2. Use the Google work experience formula.Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]. Kubernetes resume work experience example: Kubernetes DevOps AdministratorCentralEquity Sep 2018 - Jul 2021Automated the deployment of 40+ cloud services using Docker and Kubernetes.Scheduled and monitored automation and reduced failures by 15% using Puppet.Collaborated with agile team members to ensure microservice infrastructure development feature release from 95% of customer requests. 7. List your education. For senior DevOps engineers, work experience provides more information for the hiring team than the educational background. Nevertheless, education still matters for entry-level applicants, and learning how to format the education right in their Kubernetes Resume is important.Kubernetes resume education example: BS in Computer Science Carnegie Mellon UniversityAugust 2008 - May 2011 8. Include additional information. If there are tons of side projects to list in your Kubernetes resume, adding an extra section would be proper. Be concise and bring up the best project objectives and solutions. In addition to side projects, certificates can be a plus, too. Nevertheless, an organized portfolio that documents the process would be most valuable. Kubernetes resume additional information example: Developed an iOS app to help feed homeless animals in the neighborhood. Tips for writing the best Kubernetes resume🌟 1. Customize the Kubernetes resume for the job. The crucial tip on writing your Kubernetes resume is to focus on the objective: getting an interview and the job role. Match the requirements in the job description and leave a good impression on the hiring manager by customizing your Kubernetes developer resume. The achievements of each role should be in bullet points and respond to the job application. Don’t just show you are good. Show that you are good for them. 🌟 2. Quantify results on the Kubernetes resume. Throughout the Kubernetes DevOps resume, be as precise as possible. Hiring managers expect to see statistics and numbers that support the achievements. When you apply for a Kubernetes administrator job, numbers are essential tools in the resume to demonstrate your work experience. 🌟 3. Craft an ATS-friendly Kubernetes resume. Applicant Tracking Systems are tricky. Before your Kubernetes resume is ever read by a real person, it might be scanned by ATS and, sadly, determined not-a-match. To pass ATS resume scanning, use the exact keywords in the job posting by fusing them artfully throughout your Kubernetes resume. Avoid fancy format and make each section in the Kubernetes resume clear. Assign clear headings and unify font sizes. 🌟 4. Start with verbs when describing achievements. When writing about skills and experience in the Kubernetes Resume, start the sentence with a strong verb such as “monitored”, “adopted”, “deployed”, “managed”, “automated”, or “optimized” to make you appear proactive and motivated. 🌟 5.Highlight problem-solving examples in your resume. Hiring managers look for candidates who can do the job right and are easy to communicate with. These traits should reflect in your Kubernetes resume. Adding a real problem you’ve solved in previous roles in the Kubernetes resume could arouse their interest. Include how you identified a DevOps problem and what the process of delivering a successful solution was? How did you communicate with engineer colleagues or even stakeholders?Cake provides the best resume making tools templates to help you create the perfect Kubernetes resume. It adds a personal touch to your Kubernetes resume and creates a more personal and intimate connection between you and the hiring manager. Here’s how to write one: 1. Contact details Same as your Kubernetes resume, list your contact information on top to create uniformity. 2. Introduction Start the letter with simple greetings and include the hiring manager’s name, if you can find it on their website. Introduce yourself and your current employment status and let them know that you believe you can contribute to the company as a Kubernetes engineer. 3. Motivation (Intention to apply) Next, bring up your passion and motivation for applying for the role. To show you did your research, talk about their company culture, and how you are a great fit. 4. Qualification In this section, showcase your best achievements and how you ace your past DevOps job by utilizing different skills. Moreover, how these experiences can translate into better performance for this Kubernetes position. 5. Closing Finally, close the letter by adding a call to action. Invite them to read your Kubernetes resume, and tell them you’d be happy to further discuss your qualifications with them in an interview.

What Is a Portfolio & What Should a Great Portfolio Look Like?

🔑 Key takeawaysA professional portfolio is not only a must-have for artists and designers, but also a great tool for any job seekers to market themselves. When building one to achieve your career goals, make sure it includes all key elements, such as:Bio/About youOnline presenceContact informationWork samplesSkills QualificationsTraining ExperiencesEducationRegardless of the format, your personal portfolio should be easy to navigate and aesthetically pleasing.Have you ever been told to submit a portfolio for your job application?Simply put, a professional portfolio is an excellent way to present your works to potential clients or employers while demonstrating your qualifications for a project or a role. It’s particularly essential to have an online portfolio for your job hunting if you’re working in creative industries like writing, art, design, photography, etc. A personal portfolio, on the other hand, focuses more on personal branding - but is still beneficial for your career.Let’s dive into the importance of portfolios in job applications, check out amazing career portfolio examples and learn how to build one.In this article, you'll read about:What Is a Portfolio? What Should Your Portfolio Look Like? What to Include in a PortfolioHow to Create a Job PortfolioCareer Portfolio ExamplesCreated by Cake What Is a Portfolio?A portfolio can go under various names such as: career portfolio, work portfolio, and professional portfolio, depending on which profession you’re doing. Think of it as a curated collection of the best works you want to show recruiters and potential employers. Other than that, you can also use your online professional portfolio to develop your personal branding and sell your products. Note that a portfolio is different from a resume even though both of them are important for a job application. CAREER PORTFOLIORESUMEContent – Provides a lot of details, including personal life.Content – Only includes the information that is relevant to the job opening.Design –Has multiple pages.Varies between industries.Design –No longer than 2 pages.Needs to follow general rules. ⚠️ Note: The term “portfolio" is also widely used in the finance investing field.“A portfolio is a collection of financial investments like stocks, bonds, commodities, cash, and cash equivalents, including closed-end funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs)”, explained by Investopedia. What Should Your Portfolio Look Like? There are many ways you can build a portfolio for your career and each format is structured differently. Check out the most common formats of a personal portfolio: Digital portfolio file A digital portfolio is a file in the format of PDF, .doc, .jpeg, or .mp4 file. It works well when attached as a file to an email sent to the employer. Online portfolio An online portfolio is created on platforms like Cake, Behance or Dribbble; and can serve as a tool to create a bigger online presence. Website A portfolio website is essentially a website that consists of your works and is usually created using platforms like Wix and WordPress. It works just like how any other website would. Physical or paper portfolio This portfolio type is compiled manually in a folder or printed out to show employers and clients during a job application.Physical fashion portfolio example What to Include in a PortfolioWhether you're writing a professional portfolio or a personal portfolio, make sure to include the following elements. 1. Cover page Imagine hiring managers and clients open your job portfolio along with many others at the same time. It is the cover page that grabs their attention and makes the first impression. To ensure they won’t immediately close your online professional portfolio, you should put extra effort to design it carefully to serve its purpose and show your personal taste. Key elements you need to pay attention to include:FontsColorsBackgroundLayoutVisual hierarchy 2. Self-introduction and/or resume The self introduction for a career portfolio is similar to a CV summary statement. You will need to showcase the key points about you, including: Professional titleYears of experienceYour passion and expertiseKey skillsOutstanding achievements 💡 Pro Tip: Your introduction should not be too detailed and lengthy. Instead, focus on describing who you are and what value you can bring to the client or employer. You can also include your resume in your personal portfolio or career portfolio, if your goal is to showcase your career journey. Including your work history in your personal portfolio with a concise resume can be an effective tool to demonstrate your qualifications and capabilities. 3. Work samples These pieces of information are particularly important for a job portfolio. Without work samples, there's no need to include a portfolio in your job application. Based on your profession, you can present your works in different formats like images, videos, illustrations, etc. For example, a photography portfolio will need to showcase captivating pictures, whereas the highlights of a teacher portfolio for the interview will be impressive video lessons and digital lesson plans. If you shoot products or short time-lapse sequences for clients, it also helps to revisit practical product photography tips so your lighting, composition, and pacing stay consistent across the series. 💡 Pro Tip:Make sure you check the quality of your work samples before publishing them to your career portfolio. 4. Side projects Have you worked on something that is unpaid or just for entertaining - but they are actually relevant to what potential employers and clients are looking for? Go ahead and leave some room for them in your personal portfolio! By doing so, you can easily point to the work you have done in the past, and thus get a leg up on the competition. 💡 Pro Tip:When listing projects on your job portfolio, the more specific, the better. It's essential to show the audience how you did and what you achieved. 5. Licenses or Certifications These supporting documents are high quality evidence of how you acquired a high level of knowledge and mastered your skills in your field. Thus, including licenses, certificates, or professional development seminars you have attended will enhance your credibility and highlight your qualifications for the position. 💡 Tip:Especially if you're making a nurse portfolio, licenses and certifications can be deemed as must-have components. 6. Awards or other proofs of accomplishments Have more to bring to the table to demonstrate a higher level of your competence? Then it’s never a bad idea to include these proofs in your portfolio. In your job portfolio, you can also include different types of artifacts such as:Certificates of awards / prizesPublications materialsTestimonials from satisfied clients 7. References It's highly recommended that you put together a list of references or testimonials to your career portfolio. That way, you can attract more potential clients in the future. However, take this into consideration if you decide to include your portfolio in a job application. Some employers may doubt the veracity of the claims unless they really hope to learn more about your job performance and work attitude in the past. 💡 Pro Tip: If you work as a freelancer, including your client testimonials can also serve as great social proofs of your skills qualifications. How to Create a Job PortfolioStep 1: Choose a suitable format for your portfolio. As mentioned earlier, the choice of portfolio format varies between industries and the type of content you want to include. For instance, videographers or film-makers would find digital or online portfolios more convenient because it’s more convenient to access video works in a digital format, whereas artists or models might want to have a physical portfolio prepared when they attend an audition or interview. It's important to follow the instructions from the hiring managers. You may create an online professional portfolio that you can view from anywhere, but you can prepare several hard copies for the interview as well. Step 2: Arrange the materials with a consistent layout design. Keep in mind to categorize your works for convenient viewing. That will make it easy for site visitors or your portfolio readers to navigate and it also helps showcase your professionalism. Let's say you're making a design portfolio for your job application, your works can be sorted out chronologically or by different styles and the tools you used. For physical or paper portfolios, you can use a binder, folder, or portfolio case to make the pages easy to flip through. Other ways to help employers find information easily are using section dividers, tabs, and color-coding. Step 3: Opt for a simple color palette clear font style. It's a great idea to make your personal portfolio visually appealing, especially for any candidate in the arts or design fields. That being said, make sure you select a simple color palette and easy-to-read fonts. The final goal is to retain visitors on your web page. Step 4: Proofread your portfolio. Don't rush to publish any data without running a thorough check. An online professional portfolio may encounter some bugs or there might be typos sometimes. Step 5: Frequently update your portfolio. This might take you a lot of time and energy but it's totally worth it! Make sure you pay attention to both the content and design of your job portfolio and haven’t missed anything essential.

Computer Engineering Resume (with Sample)

Created by CakeYou'll learn: How to write a resume for a computer engineer? What skills should a computer engineering resume have? How to write an objective for a computer engineering resume? What is a good profile summary for a computer engineer resume? How to make a computer engineering resume with no experience?Computer engineering resume sample To meet up with the rapid change in the new media age, computer engineers need to be equipped to develop new hardware designs and be responsible for its construction, testing, and maintenance. However, due to the complexities and overlapping characteristics, people often get mixed-up between computer engineering, software engineering, and computer science. To put it simply, computer engineering mostly focuses on the computer hardware components, while software engineering pretty much deals with developing software that could meet specific needs or requirements. On the other hand, computer science is a field of study that puts more attention to the study of algorithms, which is very essential to the application of artificial intelligence. Understanding the basic differences between these three expertise is the first step to creating an exclusive resume for computer engineers. Having a well-crafted computer engineering resume is essential as it helps the recruiter to quickly know about your information and whether you are meant for the job opening they offer, especially if they are looking for a computer engineer. How to write a resume for a computer engineer?Tip 1: Adopt an ATS-friendly Resume Format Most global companies have been adopting Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to screen for candidates that are relevant to their specific job opening. The first important step is to make sure your computer engineer resume could pass the ATS and reach the hirer desk. An ATS-friendly resume format for computer engineers should: Use common sections labeling to help the ATS screen your resume (e.g. skills, work experiences, etc., see10 crucial resume sections).Adopt chronological resume format.Craft keywords that are related to computer engineering.Refer to resume template for computer engineering and avoid unnecessary graphs or pictures.Choose the font wisely(Arial, Calibri, and Times New Roman).Export and submit the computer engineer resume as a PDF file. Tip 2: Refer to Online Resume Templates for Computer EngineersAnother important tip is to search for as many internet references as to have better ideas and outlines for your computer engineering resume. You could also try different wording such as “entry-level computer engineer resume templates”, “resume template for fresher computer engineer”, “BTech CSE resume” to have more diverse results.Tip 3: Tailor Your Resume for the Job Position and Include Keywords It is a must to adjust one’s resume per a specific job opening. A resume is relatively short and concise compared to a CV. A computer engineering CV tends to have more details in both description and length. You are more likely to need a CV if you are interested in an academic-related job position. You need to highlight the information and specifications that are required for the job openings. There is also a higher chance to be selected and pass the ATS screening if you include all the keywords that are emphasized by the job opening. 📝Note: Since every job opening demands different specifications, you are recommended to go over the job descriptions and include their keywords in your computer engineer resume.Tip 4: Quantify Results on Your Computer Engineering Resume You would not want to confuse the recruiter with vague descriptions of what you have done and achieved in the past. The best way to avoid that is to include a quantifier on it. For example, if you have previously designed computer hardware, you would want the recruiter to know exactly how much computer hardware you have built, one hardware vs ten hardware could make big differences. 📝Note: Aside from mere numbers, you can also boost up your computer engineering resume by adding percentage, ranking, or even rating.Tip 5: Customize Your Resume For the Computer Engineering Position Once again, if you are applying for a position in computer engineering, you would want to create your computer engineering resume based on the qualifications needed for the job opening. Even with your diverse experiences, it is advisable to include them only if they are relevant. You would not want to apply for a position in computer engineering with skills that are more relevant to a position for an artificial intelligence engineer. The more specific the skills and work experiences are to the computer engineering position, the better. What skills should a computer engineering resume have? The computer engineering skills section is one fundamental part of the resume, which will help the recruiter to distinguish between you and other job-seekers based on the skills set they are looking for.To make your skills section stand out and easy to read, there are several ways to highlight the skills in your computer engineering resume.Bullets listsAlso known as the easiest and most common way to feature your skills. Skills listed in bullet points are pretty straightforward and allow the recruiter to quickly scan through your skills. However, it lacks clarity and supporting evidence to describe your listed skills.Expanded bullets listsExpanded bullet lists are the extended version of bullet lists, which have a description section following each bullet list. While it provides more information on your specific skills, its length requires more space and will limit the number of listed skills on your computer engineering resume.Integrated with work experienceThis type of method is less likely to appear on the resume for engineer freshers. You need to have abundant working experiences to adopt this format. On the bright side, this format can level up the professionalism of a computer engineer resume.Categorized skills sectionsThis format is pretty useful when you are applying for a position that requires different sets of skills. You can categorize your diverse skill into different categories and elaborate on what you have done with that specific skill.Aside from choosing the format to showcase your hardware and software skills, there are also several tips to let the skills section on a computer engineer resume look more professional and effective.Avoid lengthy descriptionThe key is to make it short, concise, and straight to the point. Keep in mind the above-mentioned skills format, and be wise on how you structure the skill section.Use relevant skillsAny irrelevant skills to the job positions will only make the resume look unprofessional.Include both hard and soft skillsWhile Technical skills are believed to play important roles to showcase capability among engineering professionals, do not forget to highlight your soft skills as they might also make you stand out among job-seekers.Examples of skills in resumes for computer engineers:Soft Skills:AnalyticInnovativeStress ToleranceProblem-solvingCommunicationHard Skills:Coding and ProgrammingElectrical EngineeringTroubleshootingDatabase KnowledgeCryptographyHow to write an objective for a computer engineering resume? Professional objectives in a computer hardware engineer resume would be a short paragraph with 2-3 lines that describes your career’s goal and objective. It is often found on the first sections of a computer engineering resume. Although it is not mandatory, a well-composed career objective can attract the recruiter’s attention and will open you to more opportunities of getting a call from the hirer.A well-composed career objective should:Be specific on your career purposes and goalsAvoid having lengthy career objectives.
