Created by CakeResumeSummaryCover letter and application letter could be used interchangeably, depending what kind of content your resume is.A cover letter, which is usually submitted along with a resume, focuses on expressing your interest in the position. An application letter meanwhile can replace a resume and a cover letter and briefly describes your education and work history. However, the major difference between a cover letter and an application letter lies in the content. A cover letter, which is usually submitted along with a resume, focuses on expressing your interest in the position. A cover letter, which is usually submitted along with a resume, focuses on expressing your interest in the position. An application letter meanwhile can replace a resume and a cover letter and briefly describes your education and work history.Job search jargon can be confusing sometimes, especially when there are terms that sound alike but mean differently. Yes, we're talking about a cover letter vs. an application letter. They serve the same purpose – introducing yourself, demonstrating your qualifications for the job opening, and convincing the employer to call you for an interview.Read on to learn more about: When to Use an Application Letter vs. Cover LetterCover Letter vs. Application Letter - ContentCover Letter vs Application Letter - Pros ConsTips for Writing a Strong Application Letter When to Use an Application Letter vs. Cover LetterSince an application letter and cover letter are two different documents, they should also differ in terms of usage. As we all already know and understand, a cover letter is used to accompany a resume when applying for a job vacancy. Then, what about application letters?Below we will discuss the 5 different situations that tell whether you should use an application letter or a cover letter.💡 When there is no job postingIf the job isn't being advertised, you can consider sending out an application letter or a letter of interest. These two documents work well when you want to express your confidence and desire to work at that company in the future. That being said, a letter of interest is another different document, just like how an application letter is different from a cover letter. Application letters highlight your skills, strengths, and previous work experiences in detail, along with your interest in the specific position you are writing about. 💡 When you’re applying for academic programs or scholarshipsIn such situations, a longer-form letter like an application letter or an academic CV is more preferred compared to a resume and cover letter. The reason is that school advisors expect to see the details of your personal growth in terms of both education and employment. Therefore, they can decide whether you would be an excellent candidate to be granted the opportunity. 💡 When you’re applying for internshipsAs a student looking for internships, you might not have a lot of work experience to describe in your resume. For that reason, an application letter will be able to do the job of both a resume and a cover letter. Also, the potential employer would like to dig deep into your educational background as well as personal traits and strengths, not just hear about your passion. That's why an application letter is preferable to a cover letter or a motivation letter. 💡 When you’re applying for a job openingA cover letter is generally sent along with your resume for a job application. It is considered as a supporting document that helps provide additional information besides what is written in your resume. Though it’s optional to include a cover letter in your job application, you should need one to express yourself further in a more personal way. 💡 When you have a lot to write in your resumeYou have plenty of work experience and have achieved many accomplishments in the field, so a 2-page resume is not enough. If so, you should describe those work experiences and accomplishments that don’t fit in your resume in a cover letter.Remember, do not repeat the same information on your resume in your cover letter. What if you are a recent graduate and have limited professional experience? A cover letter will then help you demonstrate your passion and motivation to apply for the job opening. You can also impress the hiring manager by stating your career goals. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - ContentIn this paragraph, we're going to show you the difference between a cover letter vs. a letter of application in terms of their format and structure.1. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - HeaderBasically, the header of a motivation letter vs. an application letter follows the format of business letters, which includes your contact information, the date when the letter is written, the recipient's address, and contact information.Example:Moon TranLa Mesa, CA, 91941[email protected](+310)-442-1549 April 10, 2022Davis PullmanMarketing ManagerIVY Media1836 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942 2. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - SalutationThe salutation in a letter is a greeting to the people who can make a decision on hiring you or offering you the scholarship. In general, they could be the hiring manager, the employer, or the Head of the Department where the vacancy is from. For any kind of formal letter, including a letter of interest, application letter, and cover letter, you should write a proper salutation like these: If you already know the recipient's name: Hello / Dear [Name]If you already know the recipient's gender: Dear Mr. / Ms. + [Name]If you only know the team or department: Dear Hiring Manager / Dear The Head of [Department] 💡 Pro Tip: You might be wondering, what about “To Whom It May Concern”? Believe it or not, this salutation is now considered outdated and overused. Read more on why you should consider not using “To Whom It May Concern” as your cover letter salutation. 3. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - Opening paragraphHere's what to include in the opening paragraph of your cover letter:Your nameThe position you're applying forThe purpose of the letterA brief statement of your qualificationsExample of the introduction in a cover letter: “My name is Kaylee Sands, a TESOL-certified teacher currently seeking a teaching position at Dream School. I believe that my 8 years experience in teaching English and my strong communication skills make me the right fit for this role.”On the other hand, application letters have a more extensive introduction through which the employer can grasp more in-depth information about the candidate’s skills and qualities. You need to cover the following elements in the opening paragraph of your application letter: Your nameThe purpose of the letterA brief overview of your skills, experience, and goalsExample of the introduction in an application letter: “My name is Flavien Louis, an undergraduate student majoring in Marketing at Academy of Journalism and Communication. I am writing to express my desire to participate in the Unilever Future Leaders Program. I have a strong passion for exploring customer behaviors and developing Marketing plans to help the company maximize the profit. Previously, I have worked part-time at an advertising agency for one year where I have obtained much knowledge, experience, and skills in this field. I know UFLP would be the perfect opportunity for me to advance my goal of becoming a Digital Marketing specialist.” 4. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - Body paragraph(s)In terms of the body paragraph, a cover letter aims to express your motivation and explain why you think you're qualified for the job opening. Thus, you will need to draw strong connections between your qualifications and the job requirements, and avoid repeating the information that is already mentioned in your resume.Example of the body paragraph in a cover letter: “During my 10 years of experience as an HR Specialist, I have engaged in a variety of industries such as EdTech, fashion, and tourism. My major job responsibilities include employee recruitment and retention, staff development, employee benefits, and HR records management. I’m detail-oriented and able to deal with complicated issues by leveraging organizational management as well as problem-solving skills. In the most recent position at PledgCam, I have implemented the very first corporate-wide program to foster employee engagement, having achieved 100% employee participation. Regarding my educational background, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in HRM and an MBA in Organization Development, both from Western State University.” Meanwhile, an application letter provides a brief description of your educational background, employment history, and accomplishments in the field. The information needs to be listed chronologically so the employer can see your personal development. That makes a job application and a cover letter different.Example of the body paragraph in an application letter: “In 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and an MBA from the University of Texas after studying for 6 years. My first job was a Sales Representative at Genex Engineering, where I was responsible for selling hardware and software for Asia-based customers while obtaining orders from existing or potential sales outlets. I hit and exceeded sales KPIs by 25% for 3 months in a row in 2018.After that, I advanced my career as a Sales Specialist at Ragic. My main job responsibilities include developing and implementing sales strategy, searching for potential clients, managing the retention of existing clients, and negotiating the contract of sales. My biggest achievement is receiving the 2020 and 2021 Sales Eminence Award for annual sales volumes over 115% of the goal.” 5. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - Closing paragraphHow to write a cover letter vs a job application’s closing paragraph is similar. You will need to include the following information:Restate your interest in the role/program.Include a call to action inviting the hiring manager to reach out to you.Express your gratitude for their time and consideration. Example: “As a big fan of BAS Glow for many years, I hope that I can become a part of the Business Analysis Development team. I am confident that the experiences and skills I’ve obtained in 5 years of working have prepared me for this position. I would appreciate your time and consideration for a further discussion.Thank you and please kindly let me know if you have any questions." 6. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - Sign-offThere’s no difference in the sign-offs of a cover letter vs a letter of application. Just simply end your letter with a formal closing, followed by your signature, like these: Sincerely,Best regards,With gratitude, 💡 Pro Tip: Avoid sign offs that are too personal and casual like: With love, Lots of love, XOXO, See you. 7. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - AttachmentsIn general, you’re required to include a resume with your cover letter. You can also submit other supporting documents such as certificates and a portfolio. However, application letters don't contain any other attachments since they're considered a standalone document and you’ve already disclosed your explanations in the body of the letter.Still, to make sure you don't miss any requirements, read the job posting carefully. 8. Cover Letter vs. Application Letter - LengthA cover letter is typically half to one page long with 250-400 words. An application letter can typically be longer than a cover letter and can be one to 2 pages long. Further reading:How to write a summary for a resume with no experienceWhat are some great resume skills for a kindergarten teacher? Here comes the essential elements, kindergarten teacher skills on your resume. Placing a skill section in your kindergarten teacher resume can quickly let recruiters know your capabilities. You can choose from the following forms to list skills on your kindergarten teacher resume.Simple bullet listsIt is the most typical way to list your kindergarten teacher skills. Every job seeker can adopt this method to their kindergarten teacher resumes. Yet, since a simple bullet list does not provide further explanations, remember to back your skills up in other sections such as work experience. An expanded bullet listAn expanded bullet list improves the shortcoming of a simple bullet list - it adds further statements to each skill, making your kindergarten teacher resume more persuasive. However, under this method, the skill section will take up more space in your kindergarten teacher resume, and therefore, you can only provide limited skills (up to five). Integrating skills with work experienceCombining your kindergarten teacher skills with work experience is also a good choice. This way, employers can easily understand what skills you have learned. This format is more suited for those who have extensive work experience. For freshers, skills received from some internships or extra-curricular activities can also be applicable. A categorized skills sectionIf you know well what kind of kindergarten teacher skills to put on a resume, you can consider the categorized skills section. Nevertheless, be cautious about the risk of this format. If one does not have a deep understanding of the position and has less work experience, using this method may easily result in errors.👍 Tips for writing kindergarten teacher skills on a resume:A seasoned job seeker should keep the skill list short because the work experience is more critical, while a fresher is allowed to expand the skills section to gloss over the lack of work experience.Don’t include all of your skills. Instead, select the relevant ones. Refer to the job requirements to learn more.Legibility is the primary principle.Add both technical interpersonal skills.Kindergarten teacher resume examples for the skill section:Hard/Technical skills:Classroom ManagementCurriculum DevelopmentLesson PlanningAssessment DesignPhysical StaminaSoft/Personal skills:Communication SkillsPatienceEngagement SkillsAttention to DetailsResourcefulnessWrite a kindergarten teacher resume with no experienceIf you need a resume for the kindergarten teacher but have no experience, here are pieces of advice you can follow.Choose a suitable resume format for your kindergarten teacher resume. The reverse chronological resume format is the most common layout. However, a fresher can try to list work experience in reverse chronological order with a highlight on skills, which is a hybrid/ combination resume format.🏷️ Further reading: Three Common Resume FormatsUse a kindergarten teacher resume objective instead of a resume summary. As we discussed previously, a career objective is more suitable for freshers because compared to a resume summary, it requires less work experience and focuses more on career goals.Highlight your education in your kindergarten teacher resume.Education is an authorized proof of a fresher’s capability. For a kindergarten teacher position, having a certain education level is fundamental. Most kindergarten teachers need to have at least a bachelor’s degree and have participated in the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) to earn the certificate.Include your side projects/extracurricular activities/internships.Since a fresher has less work experience, try to put some side projects, extracurricular activities, internships, or tutoring experiences in your kindergarten teacher resume. These are persuasive accomplishments for those with less experience.Write a sincere kindergarten teacher cover letter.A kindergarten teacher cover letter is another opportunity to demonstrate one’s passion and qualifications. If you have no idea how to craft a cover letter for a kindergarten teacher but with no experience.✍🏻Here are a few steps to help your kindergarten teacher cover letter stand out: List down several of your outstanding achievements during college. Create connections of achievements with the job and school you are applying for.Showcase those transferable skills to persuade recruiters of your potentials and values that you can devote to their organizations.Further reading:The Cover Letter to Land Your Dream Job:5 Basic Paragraphs 10 Tips (Free Templates) For Freshers: Tips to Land Your Coveted Job Kindergarten teacher resume sampleChloe BradyCommunicative Kindergarten Teacher with 7 Years of Experience in Education and Tutoring Mobile: (123) 123-123Email: [email protected]Address: Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.Linkedin: linkedin.com/in/chloebradyCake profile: cakeresume.com/portfolios/chloebrady-profile Professional Summary Bilingual childhood education professional offering ESOL classes for 4+ years. How to Put Unfinished Degree on Resume w/ Examples [Resume Writing Guideline]

Created by CakeTABLEOFCONTENTSShould I Include Unfinished Education on My Resume? How to Put Unfinished Degree on a Resume/CVTips on How to Add Unfinished Education to a ResumeHow to Boost Your Resume/CV with No or an Unfinished College DegreeYou're looking to get into your dream career, but don't have a degree or it’s still in progress. You think this hinders your job prospects and start asking yourself the following questions:"What can I do?""How to write an unfinished degree on my resume?""Should I put my unfinished education on my resume?"Such questions may arise, along with what employers might think when they see an unfinished degree on a resume. However, there is no need to worry. Lacking academic credentials should not undermine your value as a candidate. Whether you didn’t complete your degree or you are currently getting one, this article will provide tips and examples on how to list an unfinished degree on a resume.Should I Include Unfinished Education on My Resume? You may think including an unfinished degree on your resume may not be appealing to employers, and you are concerned about what they might think of you. However, this is wrong as readers may have a different outlook once they glance at your resume. Moreover, having an unfinished degree on your resume is not the worst-case scenario if you know in what situations you can list an incomplete degree on your resume. When You Should Put Unfinished Degrees in Your Resume The incomplete education is related to the position. This is usually a wise practice, as your previous education in the field may be related to your future profession. Even if it’s an unfinished degree on your CV/resume, it displays your education is still relevant to the position. You lack relevant education or training in the job. If you do not have any previous education or training, you may not have enough experience in the field of work for which you are applying. However, this is not the same as having no qualification at all. If your qualifications are limited, listing an unfinished degree on your resume is better than displaying no education at all. There is a significant gap in your work history. This issue should be addressed by showing you were studying or doing something productive to cover the gap. Even if the unfinished degree on your resume is not relevant to the job, it is better to have it in your resume/CV than not having anything at all. You are currently still pursuing the degree. When it comes to listing an ongoing degree on a resume, consider listing the name of degree, school name, and mention it is currently “ongoing” or the expected graduation date. You are not going to/did not finish the education. If you're not going to finish your education, you'll need to come up with a way to make your unfinished degree on your resume look as good as possible. Including your GPA, relevant courses, and extracurricular activities are good practices on how to put college on your resume if you didn't graduate or you plan to not finish your studies. When You Should Leave Out Unfinished Degrees in Your Resume You are already an experienced professional with enough experience. Having an unfinished degree on your resume when you have solid experience should be the least of concerns. Even if you don’t know how to include an unfinished degree on your resume. You performed really poorly. If your GPA is below 3.0, it is best to leave it out. Displaying an unfinished education on a resume along with poor academic performance will do no good to your job prospects. How to Put Unfinished Degree on a Resume/CVWhen it comes to how to add unfinished education to a resume, the most common elements that should be present are school name, degree name, years of study, and any relevant coursework or achievements. Generally speaking, academic sections are brief, so an unfinished education on a resume should not be extensive. Regarding how to write an unfinished degree on a resume, there are two cases, which are to be covered in this part.Ongoing Degree on ResumeLet’s say you are on the job hunt, yet you still need to graduate or finish your studies. You might ask yourself: How to write an ongoing degree in your resume? Well, this is no hard task. Here are the following things to consider when listing an ongoing degree on a resume:Mention the program nameName of institutionLocationExpected graduation dateWhen it comes to how to put the expected graduation date on the resume, the year will suffice and it is optional to add the month. There is no need to write a lot of details for elaborating your education in progress on your resume. Here is an example of a degree in progress on a resume: EDUCATION University of Washington | 2016 -OngoingBA in Business Administration - GPA: 3.8Expected graduation date: 2020 Got any apprenticeships or achievements?Listing any of these with a degree in progress on your resume gives you the advantage to show you have valuable skills based on your studies. Some examples in this situation for an unfinished degree on a resume are relevant courses, achievements, apprenticeships, teaching or research assistance, projects, or studies abroad. Here is another example of having an unfinished degree on resume with the aforementioned aspects: EDUCATION University of Davenport | 2014 - OngoingAssociate of Applied Science - Medical AssistingExpected graduation: May 2018Awards: Student of the Year 2015Completed Medical Research ApprenticeshipAs shown above, any information that will be a plus should be included when drafting an ongoing degree on your resume. When it comes to how to list education in progress on your resume, make sure you have enough space for your education section.💡Tip: Other than the essential details such as school name, degree title, and GPA, knowing how to put an ongoing degree in a resume with the extracurricular stuff relies on what employers seek. If they value relevant experience more than studies, listing apprenticeships or internships prevails over academic awards.Did Not GraduateAs for the second situation, you are wondering, “should I include unfinished education on my resume?” You obviously think writing “unfinished” or “incomplete” in your unfinished education section on a resume does not look good, but it really depends on how you display it in your education section.Let’s take a look at each example for an unfinished degree on a resume.Example of how to list an unfinished Ph.D. degree on a resume: EDUCATION Columbia University, NYGraduate Work in EconomicsPerhaps listing the university and program may suit more than university name + degree. Besides showing it’s an unfinished degree on your resume, it is best to not mislead or lie that you possess a degree you didn’t finish. Here is another example using an unfinished masters degree on a resume: EDUCATION Columbia University, NYMBA ProgramCompleted 30 credits towards an MBARelevant projects: Sustainable Finance This example contains roles and information about your progress for an incomplete degree on a resume. Examples that show progress on your resume with an unfinished degree are the number of credits obtained and relevant courses. Here is another example of how to list an unfinished bachelor degree: EDUCATION Columbia University New York, NY |(2014-2016)Relevant courses: Investment and Portfolio Analysis, Corporate Finance, Supply Chain Management. 📝 Note: All three examples are not exclusive to a degree type and they can be interchangeably used for an unfinished degree on your resume.Tips on How to Add Unfinished Education to a ResumeHere are three tips to further help you if you have an unfinished degree on your resume: 💡 Create a portfolio/personal website if you have an unfinished degree on your resume.Whether you didn’t finish your degree or your education is still in progress, having a portfolio on your resume can be helpful. You can display assignments or any kind of work for employers to show your value and your efforts during your studies. On the other hand, a personal website is a good approach to show yourself in ways a resume or a CV with an unfinished degree is unable to do. Moreover, having a personal website shows you took time and effort to show what you bring to the table despite having an unfinished degree in your resume. 💡 Opt for an objective statement.Unless you have a good amount of experience to outweigh an unfinished degree on your resume, an objective statement can be more suitable than a resume summary. An objective statement can show your ambition and goals. Moreover, you can describe how you will help the company regardless of having an unfinished degree in your resume. 💡Prioritize qualifications obtained on education. If you have a lot of qualifications obtained during your studies, prioritize which ones shall be listed on your resume regarding an unfinished degree. This will help you focus on what elements are important as you may not be able to include everything in your resume. Showing any relevant projects can give you an edge, especially if you have an ongoing or unfinished degree on your resume. Whether you are still studying or you have an unfinished education, relevant projects on your resume show you are capable of the job. ✨ Create a skills section to highlight your existing hard and soft skills.Skills can be a decider for getting that interview you are aiming for, as they compensate for an unfinished degree on your resume. With a very similar name, pharmacologists are often confused as pharmacists. Though both roles pertain to working with medication, a pharmacist works to distribute medicine accurately for usage while a pharmacologist handles the research side of testing and developing new drugs. To officially administer prescriptions for patients, you will need to plan out a professional pharmacist resume (often referred to as a pharmacist CV) for the drugstore or the employer.Step 1: Pick the best layout for your pharmacist resume.First of all, you need to know the basic layout of a CV to develop a successful pharmacist CV. The standard length of a pharmacist resume is one page long, and the ideal text font should be tidy, such as Arial and Calibri, in a 10 to 12 pt text size. Set the margins of your pharmacist CV to one inch on four sides and the line spacing between 1.2 to 1.5. Save your pharmacist resume as a PDF file before sending it out.Step 2: Choose the right format for your pharmacist resume. You will want to strategically choose a pharmacist resume format from one of the three below to display your background of experience and skills effectively. Make sure the contents in the summary of your pharmacist CV are relevant to the pharmacist job description. Also, create a flourishing summary for your pharmacist CV by starting with a fascinating adjective that accurately describes you. Alternatively, you can create a career objective for your resume if you are a fresher in pharmacy. Step 4: Create an intriguing resume title. Step 5: Craft a professional IT resume summary or IT career objective. Step 6: Include an IT skills list. Step 7: Beef up your information technology (IT) resume. Step 8: List IT educational qualifications and background. Step 9: Add an extra section to highlight personal traits or achievements. Step 10: Craft a convincing IT cover letter for your IT resume.Information Technology (IT) Resume Sample Step 1: Know what an information technology (IT) resume looks like.An IT fresh graduate might be confused about how to write a proper IT resume. Like a CV, a resume is a compilation of your personal information, headline, goals, work experiences, and skills. While a CV is intended for academic purposes, an IT resume more often serves as a job application requirement. How long should a resume be? A resume should be simple in everything, whether it is design or information. A resume’s length shouldn’t be more than 1 page, especially if you are an IT fresher or student with less than 7 years of experience. A resume document must be brief and concise, so if you have a resume with more than one page, you may want to consider reviewing and removing unnecessary details. What is the best font to use in a resume? A modern IT resume would prefer minimalistic fonts, such as Arial or Cambria. A recommended font size for section titles and headers is around 14-16pt and 11-12pt for its content. What is the standard margin for a resume? A standard resume margin is one-inch for each side. If you need some space to fill in more information, you can reduce the space, but make sure that it is not less than half an inch. If the margin around your IT resume is too small, it means your resume is too crowded and it would be hard to read. What spacing should a resume be in? A generous white spacing looks neat. Single spacing would help ATS to easily identify your resume in a group of other digital IT resumes, but double spacing would help the HR manager to easily identify your skills and experiences in a hard copy IT resume. What format should a resume be in, Word or PDF? To avoid getting copied or manipulated, always save your resume in PDF format. Putting your resume in a PDF format would help you to keep your format the same in any kind of application or devices used to open it. However, that is not the case with Word formats as it might alter your format according to the Word program’s edition or devices used to open the file. Word format resumes should only be used when required specifically for the application.Step 2: Choose the right information technology (IT) resume format.Building the best IT resume would be nothing without the right format, and it depends on what kind of IT resume you are aiming for. Here are three common resume formats that you might want to consider before building an IT resume that you want!Chronological resume format A resume format presenting the history of your work or organizational experiences from the earliest to the latest, or vice versa. For those of you who are aiming to write an IT manager resume or a more experienced IT resume, this format would show your work experiences in the IT world best.Functional resume format A resume format focusing more on professional skills and experiences related to it. If you are a fresh graduate with limited work experience in IT, this could be the right format for you to showcase the IT skills you still freshly remember from your degree.Hybrid resume format A resume format combining both chronological and functional resumes. A higher IT position you are aiming for would require you to highlight both your skills and work achievements at the same time. Step 3: Properly introduce yourself. An IT resume would be your first step to greet your dream job, so it would require you to introduce yourself before the recruiters can get to know you even more.In your introduction, don’t forget to add your:Full namemail addressPhone number. Some other optional information that you can include is your:AddressLinkedIn URLPersonal website (if you have one) ⚠️It is NOT recommended for you to add your date of birth, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marital status and dependency, and your expected / current salary, as this information might trigger discrimination and are even prohibited by law in some countries. Step 4: Create an intriguing resume title.A title is more than just an introduction to yourself, but it is a catchphrase that helps you attract the HR manager to read further on your IT resume in just a short 5 seconds. Make a bold, strong, and simple one-line catchphrase with a maximum of 10 words, filling it with your career history, personality, skills and qualifications.Examples of IT resume titles:Independent Computer Science Fresh graduate Proficient in PHP and JavascriptCompTIA A+ certified IT Support Technician with 2 Years of ExperienceSkilled Network Architect Experienced in Major Hospital Private Cloud Infrastructure Step 5: Craft a professional IT resume summary or IT career objective. An IT resume summary or IT resume objective could be said as an extension of your IT resume title. As it must be strong and bold like the title too, you can discuss more of your IT expertise in the field, and reasons why you want to apply to that particular IT position. An IT resume summary would be packed with more experiences from the previous jobs, and an IT career objective would be more directed with the goals you want to achieve in the future company you are applying to. An IT fresh graduate who is looking to write a beginner IT resume can opt for an IT career objective. A general resume summary for IT professionals or IT career objective would be around 2-3 sentences, with a maximum of 50 words. Examples of IT career objective or IT resume summary:"Dedicated network administrator with 7+ years experience in designing and installing networks of 150+ Cisco devices for 200+ clients. Managed to improve Windows performance by 20% via monitoring and lowering 27% of network vulnerabilities.""Senior Network Administrator with 4+ years experience in maintaining advanced medical network problems and coordinating system configuration. Helped with two major hospitals in conducting system repairs and troubleshooting.""Results-driven IT Project Manager with 10+ experiences of building a strong track record of new IT systems and services implementation. Offering junior project managers mentoring, communication talents, and project management."Examples of IT career objective:Passionate IT fresh graduate expertise in LAN and WAN infrastructure. Hoping to establish and improve major network equipment in the medical area.Energetic and capable IT fresh graduate committed to performing any assigned tasks in a fast-paced IT environment. Hoping to help with identifying system performance and operational issues.Resourceful Technical Support Specialist with 2+ years experience in helping customers with software and hardware issues in electronic stores. Seeking to educate more customers in recent IT world trends.Step 6: Include an IT skills list. The IT world is all about your IT skills and techniques, and this is where the IT skills list would play a big role in. There are different types of skill-listing formats that show certain features of your skills. The most common one would be a bullet list, but if you have specific achievements related to some lists, you can always opt for expanded bullet lists. An IT manager resume or any kind of higher IT related positions might let you put in your skill list inside the Work Experience session too. If you are still confused with all of these, you can always go back to the basics and write a simple bullet list of skills you are really good at!Examples of skills to put in an IT professional resume:✅Hard skillsLanguages and PlatformsOS: Windows, Linux, MacOSIDE: Eclipse, NetBeansIDECSS, HTML, JavaScriptCopywritingSocial MediaComputer TroubleshootingPhoto EditingVideo EditingCloud Distributed Computing✅Soft skillsCommunicationTime ManagementUpdate and Continue to be relevantAttention to DetailsProblem SolvingDetail-orientedCreativityAttention to DetailsTeamworkDecision-making ✅OthersLeadershipConflict ManagementSelf-managementOrganizationLogical thinkingBrainstormingServer MaintenanceBusiness and Data AnalysisMachine LearningBlockchainCake provides the best IT resume templates examples for talents to demonstrate your qualifications. Writing down an IT work experience doesn’t mean only writing down your current company’s name and how long you have been there, but the more achievements and things you have done in the company listed, the more effective your work experience will be. There are 5 essential elements of the “Work Experience” section that couldn't be missed out:Titles of your current/previous jobsNames of companies/organizations where you made your “achievements”Locations of the companies/organizationsEmployment period for each job roleBrief descriptions of achievements or skills you have shown throughout your time in that working experience Making a perfect IT work experience session would be hard, whether it is because you have too little or too many on your plate. Here are 3 tipsto make the Work Experience session neater and closer to perfect:List down only the most recent experiences which are relevant to the job.Add your achievements and illustrate them with quantifiable results.Always start with resume action verbs for the descriptions. ✨ Want to know more specifically how to write the IT Work Experiences section of your IT resume? Here are some examples of how to put in your work experiences and accomplishments in the right place.IT Support Analyst CCC GroupMay 2018 – Present Provided IT online technical support advice to 500+ IT users in 2 years.Gained 78% of consumer satisfaction. IT Consultant DDD CorporationJune 2017 – April 2018 Helped 2 start-ups in Taiwan to build their own IT systems for online customer acquisition.Successfully worked on 32 IT set-ups projects in a year.Step 8: List IT educational qualifications and background. After learning about the colorful and high expectations people put in your work experiences, you must be confused when thinking that you are just a fresh graduate who expects to write an entry-level IT resume with no experience at all. This is where your latest IT educational qualifications and background play in the role. Like its name, the “Education” section is created to show off your degrees and experiences you gained in school at its best performance. 5 essential elements of the education section:Degree(s)Major(s)Year of graduationName of schoolHonors and Awards (If applicable) 💡 Reminder: An entry-level IT resume and an experienced IT professional resume would require two different placements of education sections! If you are seeking to write an IT student resume, it would be highly suggested to put your educational section before your work experiences. If you have enough working experience, you may do otherwise. If you have graduated and started your career a couple of years earlier, it is highly suggested to put your educational section after your work experience section. HR managers prefer to read most of your experiences in the short period of time they use to scan your resume! Writing an educational section is undeniably one of the easiest parts of writing your resume, but also could be a tricky part at the same time. Tips to write different degrees depending on certain situations:✨Always write the latest update of your highest attained degree. If it happens to be your high school degree, you are allowed to do so. However, you can also stop using your high school information once you have started in another higher education or attain more working experience. Example:University Highschool (CA, U.S.)2015 – 2019 GPA: 3.8 / 4.0Honors and awards: Outstanding Community Service AwardExtracurricular activities:- Coding Club- International Volunteer Club ✨When you are still completing your degree and want to write an IT intern resume or a resume for IT fresher, you may include your college degree from this point on. An education in progress could be identified as expected to graduate in ___ or in progress.Example:B.Sc. CS (in progress) California Institute of Technology (Caltech) – Pasadena, U.S. Latest GPA: 3.96 / 4.3Research: "2020 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships" ✨ If you were unable to complete your education, you can still still write it down on your resume. An unfinished education can be written by the institution’s name and point to the start and end dates. Adding in the number of credits and things you have learned in bullet points would give a certain assurance that you are still capable of doing the job. At this moment, your high school information should be added under the unfinished degree if you don’t have any other educational credential.Example:University of Amsterdam2017 – 2019Completed 35 credits toward B.S. in Computer ScienceClusius College, Amsterdam2014 – 2017 Step 9: Add an extra section to highlight personal traits or achievements. An IT resume you are going to write should be everything about your work experience and skills, but if you have certain achievements and IT certifications you have gained, this is the right section for you that you can customize accordingly.5 additional pieces of information that you can add to decorate your new IT resume a little bit:Hobbies and interestsVolunteer workCertifications and awardsProjectsReferences One thing to remember when writing this special section is: This is an optional section and you don’t need to write everything into an IT resume. And always, only write the ones that are relevant to your IT experiences and skills. If swimming is your hobby, you don’t need to write it down in the resume, but if your hobby is learning new different coding languages, this should definitely be pointed out. If you have done volunteer work for community service in local villages, this also wouldn’t be necessary to add, but if you have helped with an IT summer camp in your university, this should definitely also be pointed out! Step 10: Craft a convincing IT cover letter for your IT resume. Most mistakes done by beginner job seekers are by not adding any cover letter along with an IT resume. Thinking that your IT background and IT skills only are enough is definitely a wrong move. Therefore, it is always best for you to write down a cover letter that is customized according to the IT job position you want and tailors them only to the needs that the company is looking for. Here are some details that you need to add to your IT cover letter: Contact details: On the very top of your cover letter, include a full name, mobile number, email address, and address (optional). You may add some personal portfolio websites like LinkedIn, Cake or personal websites you previously built.Introduction: Give a proper greeting toward the hiring manager by mentioning the right name respectively!Motivation: Explain the reason why you want to apply for this job, but keep your motivation short and bold so it won’t be looking like you are making it up. Try to present a deeper understanding about the company you are applying to and as well as their products to give some bonus points.Qualification: Show off some of the qualities and skills you presented in your resume in deeper context, and write down your experiences and achievements related to those skills.Closing: Proper greetings must be ended with proper endings. Always present your gratitude for the hiring manager for spending some time reading your IT cover letter. Also, mention that you have attached an IT resume along with your letter to make sure that the hiring manager reads both documents! 💡 Tip:Keeping your IT cover letter in one page would be the most ideal length of every cover letter! Therefore, the hiring manager would be glad to grasp the ideas you want to present quickly too!Information Technology (IT) Resume Sample David Johnson Goal-getter CCT Certified Fresh Graduate San Francisco, U.S.+12345678910 Professional Summary Enthusiastic network development learner with 1-year IT internship experience in a leading IT company. However, if the resume format you adopt can't best highlight the resume headline in the above scenario, you can opt to place your resume title at the top of the resume summary or career objective section.Tip 5: Avoid writing objectivesSince career objectives are usually written from a job seeker's perspective, explaining how a candidate wishes the potential employer can benefit their career, which is something a recruiter may care less about. Besides, objectives can be vague and generic sometimes.💡Pro tip:Make sure the focus of your resume title is kept on your strongest skills and the most relevant experiences which can show your qualifications, instead of adding vague objectives or ambiguous adjectives. Tip 6: Add years of experienceThis is important if you have experience in the field you are applying for. Employers often seek candidates with a greater capacity, and experience can serve as solid proof. Adding the number of years you have been working in the relevant industry/field can certainly give you an edge.📚Further reading:Work Experience on a Resume|Samples, Formats, Writing GuideTip 7: Be concise and cutclichéIdeally, a good resume headline should be a 'one-liner.' Avoid redundant words or phrases and make it straight to the point. Cliché lines indicate that the candidate is either inattentive or unqualified. Resumes with generic headlines often go unnoticed among other job applicants and are skipped over. Tip 8: Include relevant license or certificationIf a specific license or certification is mentioned in the job requirement, and you by chance own it, make sure that you put it to good use while crafting your resume headline.Tip 9: Highlightaccomplishments using quantifiable dataNumbers can easily catch hiring managers' attention and at the same time, demonstrate the potential value you can bring to the organization. The accomplishments you've achieved in school or at workis something specific to you, which can profoundly set you apart.Examples of quantifiable dataThe number of awards wonThe amount of product soldThe growth of conversion rate The sum of of sales goal achievedThe number of satisfaction rateTip 10: Customize for different companies job positionsSince every company has different core value and organizational culture, it is highly suggested to customize your resume title for each job you apply for, even the job title is the same. As a nurse, I’m passionate about healthcare and I’m excited to pursue a career that makes a difference at the community level. I’m eager to demonstrate how I will be a good fit for the program at Sage University. I finished my nursing degree three years ago, and I’ve spent the ensuing time working in remote northern communities, delivering crucial care to underrepresented groups. I’m excited about where this program can take my career, and I’m looking forward to using what I learn at Sage to bring better access to education and healthcare to remote communities.
