Autobiography

1 Personal Background 

      Hello, I am Jia Bin Ling (Alex). I have accumulated 19 years of professional experience in roles across PM, IE and CIM. Over the past decade, I have worked in product management (PM) and industrial engineering (IE) roles within panel manufacturing plants.
Currently, I serve as Director of Industrial Engineering, collaborating with backend module factories to enhance manufacturing efficiency. I also oversee investment projects in lean workforce, monitoring progress and benefits realization monthly/quarterly.
       During the company's digital transformation initiative, I acquired skills in Python and Tableau for data organization, visualization, and KPI management to monitor project performance, progress, and risk alerts. 

       My family includes my parents, younger brother, my wife, and two daughters (12 and 9 years old). My wife is a Japanese language teacher currently teaching at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, and also works as a wedding stylist.
       In my leisure time, I enjoy playing basketball, badminton, running or reading books in photography, travel, and other interesting topics. Next, I will outline a summary of my work experience to date. 

2 Work Experience ( From Present to Past) 

2.1 Innolux IE Staff Engineer, October 2019 ~ Present: 
      Since October 2019, I have transferred to IE Staff Engineer, responsible for the following projects or operations: 

 2.1.1 Backend Module Workforce Labor Efficiency Investment Budget Management: 

• Biannually : Planning and managing annual budget investments to improve workforce efficiency in factories. 
• Monthly : Monitoring progress and risk management of manpower-saving projects, with monthly performance. 
• Daily : Using Python + Pandas to integrate data for manpower-saving investment's KPI monitor. 

2.1.2 Backend Module Manufacturing Efficiency Management: 

• Annually : Setting production efficiency KPI targets with corresponding production sites. 
• Monthly : Monitoring usage of labor per million pieces at production sites, and reviewing reasons for efficiency shortcomings and improvement methods. 

2.1.3 Digital Transformation Project: 

• Internal AI/BI training :
  To align with the company's digital transformation, I joined internal courses to study AI and BI  knowledge.
• Data visualization by Tableau/ Python:
  This has enabled me to unearth hidden insights within data, transforming our conventional approach to data analysis. 

2.2 Innolux Product Management Engineer, 2014 ~ 2019: 

2.2.1 Innolux NB Panel Product Management Engineer, May 2014 ~ October 2016:

I transferred to Product Management Engineer (PM) in May 2014 and leading an NB Panel development team.
Major projects included :
(A) Development of 15.6 inch FHD AAS NB Panel new product.
(B) Automation assembly project for 14.0-inch HD NB Panel.

2.2.2 Innolux, Staff Engineer for TV Set Management, June 2018 ~ October 2019: 

Back to Innolux as a Product Management Engineer, recommended by previous supervisor, responsible for  
SHARP TV Set business development in the Indian market.
Key responsibilities included:
(A) Collaboration with SHARP on R&D.
(B) Establishment of outsourcing and material supply processes.
(C) Product mass production and sales in India. 

2.3 CIM Engineer, 2005 ~ 2014: 

       I worked as a CIM Engineer for my first job, working at AU Optronics and CANDO-tec.  

2.3.1 AU Optronics, CIM Engineer, June 2005 ~ June 2010: 

           Responsible for managing and planning TFT-LCD front-end factory automation control systems. 
           Key tasks included: 
           (A) Implementation of CF Factory Dense Unpacker and Color Repair new lines at AUO color-filter fab. 
           (B) CIM automation project for Array/Cell factories. 

2.3.2 Cando-tec, CIM Engineer, June 2010 ~ March 2014: 

          Transfer to Cando-tec(a subsidiary of AU Optronics) as a CIM Engineer.
          Key tasks included: 
          (A) Responsible for CIM aspects of the new plant construction project in Taichung.
          (B) Assistance with IT setup at the Taichung plant.
          (C) Planning and testing of CIM automation framework for PHASE1-2 in Taichung plant.
          (D) Pass PMP certification in April 2012, integrating practical experience of project management. 

 In the last section, I'll figure out my academic journey at university. 

3 Academic Background 

     My highest academic qualification is Master degree from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, specializing in Information Management. During my undergraduate studies, I undertook courses in algorithms, data structures, and human-computer interfaces, and worked with languages such as C++ (using BCB) and PHP. I utilized ORACLE databases during projects.
My master's thesis, supervised by Associate Professor Shih Hsueh-Chi, was titled: "Design and Management of Metadata-based Data Warehousing - A Case Study of Medical Quality Indicator Programs". The study proposed using XML-based metadata to design indicator frameworks for efficiency in setting up data warehousing for medical quality indicator programs in Taiwan.
    The research assumed using XML to establish metadata, allowing users to manage data warehousing while exchanging experiences between hospitals through metadata export/import. The study concluded with a prototype simulation system to validate the framework's feasibility.
